Overwrite
Overview
Edit rendered page text in place and export compact text patches for coding agents.
Overwrite helps developers, designers, product teams, and coding agents turn rendered web page copy edits into structured JSON patch records. Turn editing on from the extension popup, click rendered text on the current page, edit it in a focused overlay, then export JSON describing each change from "text before" to "text after." Optional export fields add substring patch data, element selectors, DOM location context, page metadata, and diagnostics to help a coding agent locate and apply source-code changes. You can also save the current page DOM as an HTML file after visible edits have been applied. Overwrite is designed for local review workflows: - Click normal text to edit it. - Ctrl-click or Command-click links and buttons to edit their text instead of activating them. - Save with Ctrl+Enter or Command+Enter. - Cancel with Escape. - Click away to save the current edit. - Reset visible edits on the current page when they can be matched. - Clear saved records without changing the visible page. - Copy or download JSON for a coding agent. - Save the edited page HTML as a local file. The extension stores records locally in browser extension storage. It does not include analytics, tracking, remote code, accounts, or network calls.
