Chat Colors for Google Chat
Overview
Give Google Chat conversations saved colors and show a clear color cue where you type.
Give your Google Chat conversations their own colors so you can recognize which conversation you are writing in. Chat Colors adds a colored conversation frame and a matching outline around the message box. Home conversation previews receive matching borders and tint when their conversation identifiers are available. Each identified conversation receives a saved color automatically. Click the Color button in the chat’s top right corner to choose a preset or custom color. The palette stays closed until you click the button. You can also add a private label for a conversation. Individual chats and group conversations keep separate colors, even when they include the same people. Your choices remain saved after refreshing Google Chat or restarting Chrome. The extension processes conversation identifiers, available names, and the current Google Chat address locally to associate colors with conversations. It saves identifiers, colors, optional labels, and settings in your Chrome profile. It does not read message text, upload chat data, use analytics, or send user data to the developer. Designed for Google Chat at chat.google.com in desktop Chrome. Gmail’s embedded Chat is outside this version’s scope. Conversations that cannot be identified remain uncolored. Colors provide visual cues and do not check or block message sending. This is an independent extension and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
