OpenSmartRoute - know before you send. OpenSmartRoute is a pre-send advisor for the AI chat sites you already use: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity. While you type a prompt, it quietly tells you what you are about to send and whether a different model would do the job better or cheaper. WHAT IT SHOWS BEFORE YOU HIT SEND • Task type - is this a quick lookup, a coding question, long-form writing, analysis, a translation? • Token estimate - how large the prompt is and how much of the context window it will use. • Personal-data check - emails, phone numbers, keys and other sensitive strings are flagged and can be redacted with one click, before they leave your browser. • Model hint - which model fits this task, with a live price quote from your OpenSmartRoute account. ROUTED CHAT SIDE PANEL Open the side panel (toolbar icon, right-click menu or Alt+Shift+O) to send the prompt straight to the recommended model through your OpenSmartRoute account, and compare the answer and cost with what the site's default model would have charged. WORKS WITH YOUR OWN OPENSMARTROUTE Connect the hosted platform at opensmartroute.ai or your self-hosted deployment from the Options page. Until you connect an account nothing is sent anywhere - the analysis runs entirely in your browser. Usage tracking is off by default and only enabled when you turn it on in Options. PRIVACY • No ads, no tracking pixels, no third-party analytics. • Prompt text is analysed locally; only the redacted analysis is sent, and only to the OpenSmartRoute endpoint you configured. • Settings and your API key are stored in Chrome's local extension storage and never synced. • Open source - the extension code is bundled in the package with no remote scripts. OpenSmartRoute is the open routing layer for models, agents and skills. The browser extension brings its cost and quality guidance to the chat window, so you spend less and send fewer accidental secrets.
