OpenFocusd - Website, Tracker Blocker & Focus Timer Blocks time-wasting websites and improves focus, with active tracker blocking and data protection. Free, open-source website and ad tracker blocker with site groups, daily time limits, and on-device time history. No analytics backend, no ads. Your data stays on your device. **FOR WHOM** OpenFocusd is for students, knowledge workers, high-agency minimalists, and anyone who wants to take control of the information they are exposed to on the internet, and not just be a passive consumer of content. **SUMMARY** A website blocker and productivity tool should not track the sites you visit and use it for marketing research. That is why OpenFocusd is 100% open source and privacy-first unlike other similar Chrome extensions like StayFocusd and Forest. OpenFocusd is a website blocker, focus, and productivity tool that blocks distracting websites on a daily timer, keeps the sites you need for work reachable, and lets you take breaks and control your own blocking settings. It is free, open source (Apache 2.0), and built around a simple principle: your data stays on your device. Time analytics keeps a record of that time on this device so you can see it. The record is never uploaded. **HOW IT WORKS** Create your own "Site Groups" such as News, Social Media, and Video, then organize distracting sites with a set daily time. Every group has its own daily time allowance. When a group's time for the day runs out, every site in it stays blocked until the next day starts at 6:00. Sites you need for work or study stay in "Allowed Sites", so they remain reachable even when Sanctuary Mode is active or when the group timer runs out. **FEATURES** ⏳ Block Site Groups with assigned daily timers to set different limits for each site category. Block sites reset at 6:00 AM. ✅ Allowed Sites keeps essential work sites reachable even when their group is blocked. 🧘 Sanctuary (Deepwork) Mode locks the browser to only your Allowed Sites for the time you set, for those moments when you need deep focus. ☯️ Daoist/Zen Blocked Page with thoughtful quotes from the Daodejing when the time is up. 🔞 Block adult & gambling list — switch on a bundled blocklist when you want those categories blocked by default. Blocks over 52k high-risk sites. Always Block for the sites you never want to open again, no timer required. 🛡️ Tracker blocking — block trackers, send Global Privacy Control, and prefer encrypted connections, using public rulesets maintained by DuckDuckGo. All of it is optional and toggled from the same settings. ⏱️ Active Popup Timer to see how much time each group has left at a glance and manage your groups from the popup. 📊 Time analytics — see time spent today and over the last 7 days for each group and for Allowed Sites. The record stays on this device for 30 days. Site icons on that tab come from Chrome's favicon cache. Blocks Youtube specific distraction features such as comments, shorts, and recommended videos to have a cleaner, focus viewing experience. **THE DIFFERENCE** 📵 On your device only — no accounts, no remote analytics, no servers. Time records stay for 30 days and are deleted on uninstall 🆓 100% free - all features are free, forever 📖 Open source - Apache 2.0, audit every line on Github 🔐 Privacy built in - the only focus tool that also blocks trackers **PRIVACY PROMISE** OpenFocusd has no servers and no user accounts. Site lists, timers, settings, and time analytics are stored locally by Chrome. Time analytics records how long you spend on sites in your groups and on Allowed Sites: the hostname and the seconds for that day. The options page shows today and the last 7 days. Daily records are kept for 30 days, then older days are deleted. Deleting a site group deletes that group's time record immediately. Removing one site, or clearing Allowed Sites, leaves that host's past time in place until the 30-day window drops it or the group is deleted. Uninstalling the extension deletes the records with the rest of the local data. Optional tracker protection downloads public rulesets hosted by DuckDuckGo. Those downloads leave out your site lists, timers, and time records. To block whichever sites you choose and show you the blocking page, the extension must be able to read the address of the pages you open. Time analytics uses that same on-device address to add up time. Nothing you browse is uploaded. **REFERENCES** Privacy policy: https://zshanhui.github.io/openfocusd/#privacy Source code: https://github.com/zshanhui/openfocus
