Overview

Open individual JIRA tickets or view stories for an epic in the backlog using the address bar.

Open Jira allows the user to open Jira Tickets from the address bar. To access the function, you type ‘jj’ and hit TAB instead of typing 'Jira'. You can then enter the fully qualified ticket number or just the ticket number if the ticket is in your default project. If the ticket you are viewing is an Epic, you can view your Epic in the backlog by prefixing the ticket ID with a dash ‘-‘. This filters the backlog on the Epic, which I find handy when I want to see how the Epic’s stories and other ticket types have been scheduled within sprints. Why did I create this when there are others? I use ‘jj’ instead of ‘Jira’ to access the extension. It’s important because sometimes I need to search for ‘Jira’ related items in google and don’t want to activate the plugin. I also frequently need to need to see how an Epic is schedule, hence the dash, ‘-‘, which takes me to my backlog and filters on that Epic.
