Picture of the Day

Shows the Picture of the Day as the new tab background.

Picture of the Day replaces the Chrome new tab page with the current photograph from pictureoftheday.flyingriver.com. Open a new tab and the page is the photograph, full screen. The picture's title and location sit in the lower left and link to the photograph's page. While a picture is loading, the page says so. If the picture cannot be loaded and none is saved on this device, the page says today's picture is unavailable. The extension reads the site's public RSS feed and uses the first item as the current picture. It checks for a new picture about once an hour. The last good photograph stays on this device, so a later failed check or an offline new tab still shows that photograph. There is no account, search, clock, weather, to-do list, or other dashboard. The extension does not read the pages you visit.
