It works. Some of you will get it. Some won't. I just needed to force chrome to use a proxy server without setting the PC system (OS) proxy. I was able to put my own Proxy server in - enable and go. Did not notice how to switch from manual proxy to direct - So I just turned the extension on/off as needed.

This is one of the most useful extensions I've ever used. You can open any SSH connection to any service you have (AWS, GCP, etc) and make it work as a Proxy, then use this extension to pass your Chrome session thru it with this command: ssh -ND 1080 <user@host> -p <remote_port>
