Only Fan Out shows you what the AI searched before it answered. When you ask ChatGPT, Claude or Grok a question, the assistant does not answer from memory. It splits your question into several searches, fetches a batch of pages, and cites a few of them. That work is sent to your browser, and the chat page hides most of it. Only Fan Out opens a side panel and lays it out. WHAT YOU SEE FOR EVERY ANSWER - Fan-out queries: the exact searches the assistant ran, in the order it ran them, tagged by type (web, business, image, page fetch, X search). - Sources retrieved: every page the assistant pulled, grouped by domain. - Sources cited: the subset that made it into the answer, and the ones fetched but left out. - A cited-versus-fetched ratio per turn, so you can see how selective the answer was. - Watchlist: add your brand names and domains once, and every answer is scored against them. You see where you appeared in a query, a fetched page or a citation, and where you were absent. - History: every captured conversation from all three engines, searchable by title, prompt or query. - Export: CSV for spreadsheets, Markdown for notes and reports, JSON for anything else. SUPPORTED ENGINES ChatGPT (chatgpt.com): web, business, image and find queries, fetched and cited sources, product cards. Claude (claude.ai): web and places searches, citations attached to the answer, places used on the map. Grok (grok.com): web searches and page browses, inline citations resolved to their sources, X posts referenced in the answer. WHAT'S NEW IN 1.3.0 (14 September 2026) ChatGPT changed how it reports its searches. It no longer stores the text of its web searches in the saved conversation, only in the live answer stream, so the previous version kept showing sources while the fan-out queries went to zero. Version 1.3.0 reads the stream as the answer arrives and keeps the query text from there. The capture hook was rebuilt to stay in place when chatgpt.com swaps the page's fetch function, to handle overlapping requests, and to keep a partial stream if ChatGPT cuts an answer short. Queries captured from the stream can no longer be overwritten by the later re-read of the stored conversation. Claude and Grok were unaffected and were re-tested on live conversations. Clear everything with one button in Settings. Connector searches on Grok (Gmail, Drive, Calendar) are counted but their query text is never stored. HOW TO USE IT 1. Install and pin the extension. Click its icon to open the side panel. 2. Ask anything in ChatGPT, Claude or Grok. The panel fills in as the answer arrives. 3. Read the fan-out. Add your brand and domains in Settings to have every answer scored against them. If a conversation does not show up, reload the AI tab: after an extension update, the page has to reload before capture resumes.
