Selecting what to select for deletion

A useful extra option would be:
Select in each group ALL but the NEWEST for deletion.

That way you will end up with only the last added bookmark from each group.
This will also keep the newest bookmark in the upper side of the bookmarks.

chrome extension NOT updating in Chrome browser ?

so i opened "bookmarks clean up" in a tab. I ...did things "Find duplicate bookmarks. for example.

My expectation is that Bookmarks clean up will turn back around, and update my chrome bookmarks to reflect what I did via the extension.

For example, Chrome Profiles and syncing made a LOT of duplicate bookmarks (Select in same folder was over 1,500), and the extension let me deal with that a lot easier, and trash links down to ZERO selected!

But now, I'm not sure how to apply this BACK to the bookmarks in the browser.... I'm afraid to touch anything because I dont want to waste 2 hours of effort. I hope.

useful suggestions

suggestion 1. a function to only show the selected ones
suggestion 2. log of previous actions(deleted or moved this sort of)
suggestion 3.an explanation of what merge duplicate folder does
suggestion 4. a log of what merge duplicate folder did
suggestion 5. showing which bookmarks moved with the action of merge files(i might erased the wrong ones because i have no idea what it did/which bookmarks it moved)
suggestion 5. select duplicate ones from xxx folder

suggestion 6 make an option so these wont appear to everyone /some of the peoples might not be good with complexity

Will this extension be updated so we can continue using it?

It appears that Chrome is going to quit supporting this most useful extension. See https://www.forbes.com/sites/barrycollins/2024/07/29/your-google-chrome-extensions-may-soon-stop-working/ Are there plans to update the extension so that it no longer uses the older Manifest V2 framework? None of the suggested alternatives look like they will do what Bookmarks clean up does. Thanks for your response.

ALMOST what I need

This does a great job at finding duplicates. But it does not help me. I have duplicates galore (I don't know how or why - something to do with the syncing process). Currently it seems that I need to select the duplicates I want to remove. But I have well over 1000 duplicates. It would take me hours to manually select these. What would be absolutely fab is to have an automatic way to remove these, e.g. just press a button and you remove all duplicates bar the first. Am I missing something here? (P.S. I notice that someone else has raised this issue below).

Add option to open saved links in another tab (always)

AFIK, Chrome does not have an option to open bookmarked links in another tab by default (https://support.google.com/chrome/thread/104338607/open-bookmarks-in-new-tab-by-default?hl=en) .

In this same URL you find that if you change the URL of the bookmarked item to javascript:window.open(`URL`); it will work fine.

So, how about you add this option in you great extension ? :)

Page Unresponsive

Looks like it would be great tool.

BUT bookmark select/unselect is extremely slow, along with 'Remove all selected', and re-clicking 'Find duplicated bookmarks'

The following error is seen a lot of the time while trying to continue to action:

Page Unresponsive
You can wait for it to become responsive or exit the page
Bookmarks clean up
Wait Exit page
