Before opening time-wasting sites, pause — breathe, pick a reason, or write your excuse. Go in on purpose, not on autopilot.
You open a tab, and ten minutes later you're still scrolling. On Purpose adds a short pause before the sites you choose — so you go in intentionally, not on autopilot. Add sites like youtube.com or reddit.com. When you visit one, On Purpose can ask you to: • Breathe — a 10-second pause to break the reflex • Pick a reason — choose from casual presets like "Just unwinding" or "Got something to do" • Write your excuse — a short note to yourself (minimum 10 characters) You pick which gates apply per site. After you pass them, the site unlocks for 5, 15, or 30 minutes, then the gate returns on your next visit. How it works 1. Click the On Purpose icon → Settings, or open Options from chrome://extensions 2. Add a site by host (e.g. youtube.com). Chrome will ask for permission for that site only 3. Enable the gates you want and set an unlock duration 4. Visit the site — complete the gate, then click Open Designed for self-accountability, not parental control. Weakening your settings (disabling a gate, removing a site, or lengthening unlock time) requires passing the gate first — so changes feel deliberate. Privacy On Purpose does not collect, transmit, or sell your data. There is no backend and no analytics. Your site list syncs via Chrome across devices on your Google account; event history stays on your device only.
