ASA Speech Pro – Text Bridge This extension is a companion tool for ASA Speech Pro (asapeechpro.com), a desktop app for speech recognition and translation. It requires ASA Speech Pro to be installed and running on your computer — it does not work standalone. What it does When you press Ctrl+Alt+C while using ASA Speech Pro, this extension reads the text you've selected (or the text under your mouse cursor) directly from the current webpage and sends it to the ASA Speech Pro app running on your own computer for translation. This also works on websites that normally block the standard copy function. It can also work the other way: if pasting or typing your dictated text into a webpage field doesn't work reliably on a particular site, ASA Speech Pro can ask this extension to insert the text directly into the focused field instead — as a fallback, not the default behavior. Why the permissions Access to all websites — needed because you might want to translate or dictate text on any page; we can't know in advance which site you'll use it on. Local network access (127.0.0.1) — needed to exchange text with the ASA Speech Pro app on your own computer. No data ever leaves your device through this extension. Tabs — needed to identify which website is currently active, purely so ASA Speech Pro can remember which sites need the fallback insertion above. Only the hostname (e.g. "example.com") is read, never the full URL, and it is never stored or transmitted anywhere except locally to your own ASA Speech Pro installation. Privacy This extension does not collect, store, or transmit your browsing data to us or any third party. It only reads text when you actively use Ctrl+Alt+C, or inserts text on request from your own local ASA Speech Pro installation — never to our servers or anyone else's.
