Ollama Chat is an extension that lets you chat seamlessly with local or remote Ollama AI models right from your browser side panel. [Key Features] ■ Comfortable chat in the side panel Talk to your AI anytime on the right side of the browser without switching tabs. You can also pop it out into its own standalone window. ■ Switch between multiple hosts Switch between several Ollama servers — home server, work PC, cloud, and more — with a single click. Each host's connection status is shown in real time. ■ Free choice of models Instantly switch between installed models from a dropdown. Use any Ollama-compatible model as-is: gemma, llama, qwen, deepseek, and others. ■ Thinking mode Enable the reasoning process on supported models. Watch the model think to draw out more accurate answers. ■ Image & file attachments Attach images and text files (.md, .txt, .csv, .json, and more) for multimodal conversations. PDFs can be read via the page-capture feature. ■ Capture pages & selected text Pass the whole page you're viewing, or just your selected text, straight to the AI to ask about it. ■ System prompts Set a global system prompt, plus host-specific instructions for each host. ■ Saved chat history Conversations are saved locally automatically. View and resume past chats anytime. * Hitting http://localhost:11434 can sometimes return an error. This happens because requests from a browser extension are treated as coming from an "external" (cross-origin) source and are blocked by Ollama's security settings. Open a terminal and fix it as follows (adding this to your .zshrc is recommended): export OLLAMA_ORIGINS="chrome-extension://*" ollama serve [Privacy] All communication is sent only to the Ollama server you specify. No data is sent to external services or the cloud. It's completely private. [Getting Started] 1. Install and start Ollama (ollama.com) 2. Download your preferred model with `ollama pull` 3. Install this extension and click its icon in the toolbar 4. Register a host URL in Settings and start chatting
