Old 2025 icons for Googleâ„¢ Workspace
1 rating
)Overview
Restores the pre-2026 icons (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and more) in browser tabs and the apps launcher.
Google replaced the classic Workspace icons with gradient versions in May 2026. This extension brings the familiar pre-2026 icons back everywhere they appear on Google's web pages, so you can tell your tabs and apps apart at a glance again. What it restores: • Browser tab favicons for Gmail, Calendar and other Workspace apps • The 9-dot apps launcher (the grid menu next to your profile picture) Open source: This extension is free and open source (MIT). View the source code, privacy policy, and attribution on GitHub: https://github.com/dmitrii92/google-workspace-classic-icons-extension How it works: • All classic icons are bundled inside the extension and served locally • Static redirect rules swap Google's favicon requests for the bundled icons • A lightweight script restores launcher and inline icons as the page renders Privacy: • No data is collected, stored or transmitted • No network requests to any third party • Runs only on google.com pages and only changes icon images Notes: • Apps that already used gradient icons before 2026 (Maps, Photos, Gemini) are left unchanged • If a Google tab was open before installation, reload it once This is an unofficial extension.
