Overview

Discover Japanese YouTube at your level, build tailored Anki decks, and optionally track your immersion time — on your device.

OK-Mine helps you learn Japanese from the media you actually watch. The OK-Mine website (okmine.app) is a discovery engine for Japanese immersion: browse hundreds of YouTube channels by real, measured difficulty, see which words unlock a channel for you, and build frequency-ranked Anki decks from any channel's actual vocabulary. This companion extension does the two things a website can't do by itself: 1. Fetch captions on your own connection. When you mine a channel on okmine.app, the extension fetches the caption/transcript text of the videos you choose, on your own internet connection, and hands it back to the site for analysis. YouTube blocks server-side caption access; your browser is the honest path. 2. (Optional) Track your immersion time — locally. Flip on "Track immersion on YouTube" in the popup and OK-Mine counts how many minutes you actually watch — only for creators in the OK-Mine catalog, only on YouTube watch pages and okmine.app's own players. Your stats page shows minutes per day, per channel, streaks, and where to resume. This history is stored on your device and is never uploaded — the stats page reads it straight from the extension in your browser. Off by default; delete it anytime. Decks include word + furigana + JMdict meaning, keyness-ranked ordering, mined collocations, a grammar sub-deck, natural audio, and a ready-to-import .apkg file. Privacy. No accounts. Caption fetching acts only when you start a mining action on okmine.app. Immersion tracking is opt-in, catalog-creators-only, and local-only — no watch data ever leaves your device. Full policy: https://okmine.app/privacy.html Free and open. Requires the free OK-Mine site at https://okmine.app.
