Abo-Lotse

Opens articles from sister newspapers at the Swiss newspaper you subscribe to, so you can read them with your own subscription.

Swiss publishers publish the same article on several of their newspapers. If you subscribe to one of them and follow a link to a sister title, you end up on a website where your subscription does not apply, even though the very same article is included in your subscription. Abo-Lotse fixes that. Choose your newspaper once. When you open an article on a sister title, Abo-Lotse checks in the background whether the same article is available at your newspaper and takes you there, so you can read it with your own subscription. Abo-Lotse does not unlock any content. It only leads you to articles that your own subscription covers. HOW IT WORKS • Choose your newspaper on the welcome page (at most one per publisher group). • A short notice tells you where you are being taken. "Read now" goes straight away, "Stay here" keeps you on the page and is remembered for that article. • The countdown is adjustable from 0 to 5 seconds. With 0 you are taken there immediately. • If the article is not available at your newspaper, you stay on the page and a small notice in the corner tells you so. It can be turned off. • Tracking parameters such as utm_* or fbclid are removed on the way. SUPPORTED NEWSPAPERS Version 1.0 supports the daily newspapers of the Swiss publisher Tamedia in German- and French-speaking Switzerland. Redirects only happen between newspapers that share their articles. The complete list is shown on the extension's welcome page and at https://github.com/srueegger/abolotse.
