Overview
Netflix dual subtitles for Japanese learners. Save words with furigana, readings and meaning, then review on Japflix Web.
Japflix is a dual-subtitle extension for Netflix. It shows two lines at once — the original Japanese and the official translation in your own language — so you can follow the story and study the sentence at the same time. The Japanese line is more than text. Every sentence is split into words, and furigana sits over each kanji. A kanji can be read more than one way, and the reading is what decides which word it actually is, so seeing it above the line tells you what the sentence is saying while you watch. Clicking a word opens a card that is already filled in. Its kun'yomi and on'yomi are listed for each kanji in the word rather than merged into one, next to the meaning. The readings come from a dictionary, and the one actually used in that line is shown first — nothing is invented, and nothing is guessed. Saved words go to Japflix Web, where a folder-based vocabulary lets you organize by show, episode, or theme, share decks with other learners, generate example sentences from any word, and review through quizzes built from your own vocabulary. Coming soon: Anki-ready deck export, AI translation for subtitle languages Netflix does not supply, and flashcard review timed to the forgetting curve.
