Offline PDF Bench
Overview
Merge, split, reorder, rotate, extract PDF pages and turn text into Markdown, all on your computer. Nothing is uploaded.
Merge, split, reorder, rotate and extract PDF pages — and turn PDF text into Markdown — without uploading a single byte. Most "free PDF tools" are websites. You upload your contract, your invoice, your client's report, and hope their server deletes it. Offline PDF Bench does the same jobs inside one browser tab, on your own computer. It requests no permissions, it cannot see websites, and it has no server to send anything to. Close the tab and nothing remains. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Merge — drop several PDFs, drag them into order, download one file. First-page previews so you never mix up two invoices. • Split — see every page, click the scissors between pages to choose where each part ends. Or type ranges like 1-3, 4, 5- . Also: every N pages, or one file per page. Several parts are packed into a single ZIP. • Organize — reorder pages by dragging, rotate, duplicate or delete them, with page previews. Fix the scan that came out sideways, drop the blank page, put the appendix last. • Extract — click the pages you need, or type ranges, and get them as one PDF in the order you choose. • Markdown — turn the text layer of a PDF into a clean .md file with headings, lists and page markers. Paste it into your notes app or an AI assistant instead of a 40-page PDF. An option strips website menus and banners from PDFs that were printed from the web. WHY AN EXTENSION INSTEAD OF A WEBSITE • Your files never leave your computer. There is no upload, no account, no queue, no "we keep files for 24 hours". • Zero permissions. Chrome will not ask for access to your browsing or any site. Check it yourself under Details → Permissions. • No tracking, no analytics, no ads, no "upgrade" pop-ups. • Works offline — on a plane, on a locked-down office network, on a slow connection. • Fast for large files: a 300-page document opens in seconds because nothing is transferred. WHO IT IS FOR • Anyone handling documents they would rather not upload: contracts, HR files, medical records, tax paperwork, client deliverables. • Freelancers and small businesses merging receipts and invoices at month end. • Students and researchers pulling chapters out of long PDFs. • People who feed documents to AI tools and want clean text instead of PDF noise. PRIVACY, IN ONE PARAGRAPH Nothing is collected. Not file contents, not file names, not usage statistics. Output PDFs do not carry over the author or keyword metadata from the originals. The full privacy policy is linked on this page and is also included inside the extension. GOOD TO KNOW • Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked in your PDF viewer first. • Markdown export uses the text layer of the PDF. Scanned pages have no text layer; they are detected and reported. There is no OCR in this version. Tables and multi-column layouts may come out in a different order. • Interface in English and Japanese. HOW TO START Click the toolbar icon. The workbench opens in a tab. Drop your files in, pick a tool, download the result. That is the whole workflow. Offline PDF Bench is built by a small independent publisher. If something does not work with one of your files, use the support link on this page — a description of the file (not the file itself) is enough to investigate.
