Off by FeelingWise is a Chrome extension. The off button for social media works on Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok and YouTube. It hides Reels and Shorts on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, and hides like, view and share counts on Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok. It also hides ads in the feed on all five sites, hides Stories on Facebook and Instagram with one switch, can star out swear words, and always hides posts and comments that carry slurs. On YouTube, two switches hide the home feed and the recommended videos. Marketplace and Groups leave the Facebook menus, while the Marketplace pages and the Groups feed are hidden. Ads are found by the platform's own label, in thirteen languages, and only what Off can name as an ad is hidden. A switch can remove emoji from posts and comments. You can add your own words, phrases and accounts, in any language written with spaces between words. You can point at almost anything on a page and it is hidden; it stays hidden whenever the page shows it again. You can put a site on break, set quiet hours, and lock the settings with a PIN. Four switches are on from the start: “No swearing”, “Hide like, comment and share counts”, “Block Reels and Shorts”, and “Block ads”. Off is free, needs no account and no card, and sends nothing anywhere. It asks for storage and for access to the five sites, nothing else. It stays out of private messages.
