NFC Web Reader by NFC IDEAS Read NFC tags directly in Google Chrome using any standard USB PC/SC NFC reader — no mobile device or dedicated app required. Works on Windows and Mac. What it does The NFC IDEAS Web Reader extension bridges your USB PC/SC reader to the nfcideas.com web app, enabling you to scan and instantly decode NFC tags from your browser. Place a tag on the reader and the decoded content appears on the page within seconds. Decodes all standard NDEF record types: • URL / URI • Plain text • Smart Poster • Wi-Fi credentials • Bluetooth pairing • vCard / Contact • Email, SMS, and Phone • Custom and unknown record types Supported NFC tag types: • NFC Type II — NTAG213, NTAG215, NTAG216, MIFARE Ultralight • NFC Type IV — MIFARE DESFire, NTAG424 DNA • NFC Type V — ISO 15693 (ICODE, TI Tag-it) Why install it? Web browsers cannot access USB smart card readers directly. This extension acts as a secure bridge — it communicates with your reader through the PC/SC subsystem and passes tag data to the NFC IDEAS web page. Without it, the NFC Web Reader cannot function. Compatible readers include: • ACS ACR122U • ACS ACR1252U • ACS ACR1255U-J1 • ACS ACR1552U • ACS ACR1555U • HID OMNIKEY 5022 • Any standard USB PC/SC NFC reader Requirements: • Google Chrome on Windows or Mac (not supported on mobile, Safari, Firefox, or Edge) • A USB PC/SC NFC reader • macOS users also need the free NFC IDEAS Native Host installer (available at nfcideas.com) Windows users: no additional software needed beyond this extension.
