MacDM Connector

Forwards browser downloads and media to the MacDM desktop app on your Mac.

MacDM Connector hands your browser's downloads and videos to MacDM, the download manager for macOS. REQUIRES THE MacDM DESKTOP APP This extension does nothing on its own. It is a bridge: it passes links to the MacDM app running on your own Mac. Without the app installed, nothing happens and your downloads continue in Chrome as usual. WHAT IT DOES • Takes over downloads — start a download in Chrome and MacDM picks it up, fetching it in parallel chunks so it finishes faster and can be paused/resumed. • Catches videos — while you play a video, the extension spots the media stream so you can send it to MacDM in one click. • Right-click to send — send any link or page to MacDM from the context menu. • You stay in control — switch capturing off at any time, or set a minimum file size so small files keep downloading in Chrome. HOW IT WORKS The extension only talks to MacDM on your own computer, over a local connection (127.0.0.1). Nothing is sent anywhere else. If the app isn't running, the download is simply left to Chrome. PRIVACY No accounts, no tracking, no analytics, no remote servers. We do not collect any data. The link and session cookies for a download you started are passed only to the MacDM app on your own machine, so that downloads which require you to be signed in keep working there. WHY EACH PERMISSION IS NEEDED • downloads — to take over a download you started and hand it to the app. • webRequest and site access — to detect the video stream on the page you are watching, so it can be downloaded. • cookies — so downloads that need your existing login session keep working. • notifications — to let you know a download was handed over. • storage — to remember your on/off preference and size threshold.
