Carder

Create and download share cards from text selected on webpages.

Carder turns text selected on a webpage into an editable PNG excerpt card, making it easy to save, share, and revisit memorable passages. Select text and open the preview from the context menu or the extension shortcut, without switching to another editor. Key features • Create a card with source details from selected webpage text, and edit both the excerpt and source text. • Choose from a range of dark and light color themes. • Optionally add a QR code for the current webpage so readers can return to the original source. • Copy the finished card image with one click or download it as a PNG. Filenames include the Carder name and the local date and time. • Use text selection on regular webpages, with additional text-selection and source handling for posts on X (formerly Twitter). • Change the activation shortcut in the browser’s extension shortcut settings. Privacy Carder processes data locally and has no Carder backend server. It reads text selected on the current webpage, along with the page title and URL, only when you actively invoke the extension. The card is generated in your browser on your device. To pass the content to the preview popup, Carder briefly stores it in the browser’s local extension storage and removes the temporary data after the popup reads it. Carder does not send this content to Carder or third-party servers, access your complete browsing history, track browsing activity in the background, or read clipboard contents. The generated PNG is written to the system clipboard only when you click “Copy card.”
