David Mode replaces webpage profanity with playful alternatives, right in your browser. Keep the conversation and choose a softer vocabulary. MAKE THE LANGUAGE YOUR OWN • Choose Mild, Standard, or Strict filtering. • Pick Whimsical or Garden word collections. • Turn filtering off for the current website or everywhere. KEEP THE ORIGINAL WITHIN REACH Replacements have a dotted underline. Click a replacement to reveal its exact original, then click again to hide it. You can also focus a replacement and use Enter or Space; Escape or moving focus away hides the original. Prefer not to reveal originals? Turn that option off in the popup. Turning filtering off in the popup restores original words without reloading. Newly inserted posts and comments are filtered as they appear. Editable fields and code are left alone. PROCESSING STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE Page text is processed locally and is never saved to extension storage or sent to us for processing. Original words stay temporarily in the page’s memory for reveal and restoration. Preferences and disabled-site hostnames are saved only in your browser’s local extension storage. No account, analytics, advertising, or remote code. WEBSITE ACCESS David Mode needs access to ordinary HTTP and HTTPS webpages to filter them automatically. Its popup identifies the current website so you can control filtering for that hostname. LIMITATIONS David Mode filters supported English profanity in accessible webpage text. It does not filter images, PDFs, canvas, frames, closed shadow roots, or browser-protected pages. Word matching can miss language or replace a word you intended to keep. It is a reading preference, not a guarantee that a page is suitable for children. If you disable or uninstall the entire extension, reload affected pages to restore their original text.
