Overview

Experimental Octopus AI Query Tool

This extension provides an experimental overlay added to cloud Octopus instances that exposes a GPT based query interface. It can be used to query an Octopus space using a natural language interface. FAQ Q: What is the purpose of this extension? A: This extension is a time limited experiment to investigate the benefits and challenges of querying an Octopus space with natural language using Large Language Machines (LLMs) and help us better understand the questions that Octopus users want to ask in their space. Q: Is this only available for Cloud octopus instances? A: Yes. This extension will only display the overlay for cloud hosted Octopus instances. Q: Is this extension supported? A: This extension is an experiment and offers no SLAs or support guarantees. Q: How long will this extension be maintained? A: We expect this extension will be maintained during the first half of 2024. We also expect this extension to be unpublished in the second half of 2024. Q: What data is collected? A: All queries, the context supporting a query (see the next question for more details on what the context is), and the answer will be collected for analysis. Q: What context is generated? A: Any non-sensitive configuration may be included as context for a query. This includes (but is not limited to) projects, runbooks, tenants, accounts, feeds, environments, git credentials, and workers, etc. Q: Are sensitive values or PII sent or logged? A : No. The context is generated via the Octopus API, and the Octopus API does not expose sensitive values, so no sensitive values are exposed in the context. Additional efforts are taken to scrub anything that looks like credentials or PII from the logs collected by the extension. Q: Do I need to provide an Octopus API key? A: No. The context is generated based on the access provided to the user logged into the Octopus web portal. Q: Does this extension mean Octopus is committed to integrating AI into the platform? A: No. This is an experiment. It does not mean Octopus is committed to integrating AI into the platform. Q: Can I rely on the information generated by this extension? A: No. LLMs can be useful for discovering information, but are frequently wrong. You must validate any information reported by this extension before making any decisions. Q: Where can I report an issue or suggestion? A: Using the issues in the GitHub project at https://github.com/OctopusSolutionsEngineering/OctopusAI/issues/new/choose. Q: Do you support browsers other than Chrome? A: No. This extension is only provided for the Chrome browser.
