Local PDF Studio is a free PDF editor, annotator and viewer that runs entirely inside Chrome. Every file stays on your device: nothing is uploaded, nothing is tracked, and it works without an internet connection. Most "free online PDF editors" send your documents to a server. Contracts, medical records, tax forms and signed agreements end up on someone else's machine. Local PDF Studio takes the opposite approach: the whole editor lives in the extension, so your PDFs never leave the browser. WHY LOCAL PDF STUDIO • Private by design: no account, no servers, no analytics, no telemetry • Works offline: edit PDFs on a plane, in a locked-down office, or on a bad connection • No caps: no file-size limits, no page limits, no daily quotas, no watermarks stamped on your exports • Your work saves itself: close the tab or restart Chrome and pick up where you left off NEW IN VERSION 1.1 • Password protection: AES-256 encryption with separate open and owner passwords, and control over printing, copying, editing, commenting, form filling and page changes • See what's hidden in a file: scan for JavaScript, embedded files, metadata, document properties, links and embedded fonts, then strip what you don't want before you save • Edit or remove document properties: title, author, subject, keywords, creator and producer • Flatten on save: turn form fields into part of the page, or turn every page into an image, at 72, 150 or 300 DPI • Forms you save now stay fillable unless you choose to flatten them • Page numbers with a live preview: nine positions, custom text, total page count and file name • Find and remove blank pages, with a preview so you can keep any you want • Print layouts: several pages per sheet (up to 4×4), booklets that read in order once folded and stapled, and resizing to A4, Letter, Legal or A3 • Compare two PDFs word by word and see exactly what was added and removed • Export pages as PNG, JPEG or WebP images, one file per page or stitched into one image, or extract all the text into a single file • Signature script fonts are now available in the Text tool ANNOTATE, SIGN AND FILL • Highlight, underline and strike through text • Freehand drawing, text boxes and sticky notes • Signatures: draw, type or upload one, and reuse it across documents • Fill in PDF forms • Whiteout and redaction for content that has to go ORGANIZE PAGES • Merge, split and extract pages • Reorder pages by drag and drop, rotate and delete them • Crop pages, with automatic margin detection • Add an image as a new page EXPORT • Compress PDFs with quality presets • Add a text watermark with a live preview WORKS WITH YOUR BROWSER • Right-click a PDF link and choose "Open in Local PDF Studio" • Right-click an image to add it as a page, or selected text to add it as a note • Side reader: keep a PDF open in Chrome's side panel next to any web page • Optional "Use Studio for all PDFs" setting opens web PDFs in Local PDF Studio instead of Chrome's viewer (off by default) • Keyboard shortcuts, find in document, continuous scroll and dark mode PRIVACY Local PDF Studio collects no data. There is no account, no backend and no tracking. The extension only makes a network request when you ask it to: opening a PDF link you chose, or an image you right-clicked.
