Read, research, write and study from your browser's side panel. LocalPulse AI brings on-device AI, a private research library, local file tools and optional email read activity into one free, open-source extension. Summarize the page you're reading, ask a question or choose an action. LocalPulse uses AI on your computer whenever supported and shows where each answer was written: green for on your device, amber for the cloud. Cloud AI is optional and requires a provider you configure and your consent. READ AND RESEARCH • Summarize articles, explain code, translate text and find key points or action items. • Ask about PDFs, YouTube transcripts, GitHub files and pull requests, or several tabs together. • Build a document workspace from chosen PDFs, text files and captured pages, then compare your sources. • Check quotations against the source text and open the matching excerpt, with a PDF page number when available. Quotes that cannot be verified are flagged. • Save chosen sources as local research collections. Search their text, rename or reopen collections, and import or export backups. • Search a query you type and choose public sources to add. Private page or email context is never automatically attached to web searches. WRITE, STUDY AND FOLLOW UP • Right-click selected text to explain, simplify, rewrite, proofread or translate it. Put a revised answer back into its original text field. • Choose from 24 actions, including study guides, research briefs, practice quizzes, meeting notes and code review. Search the action library, pin favorites or create your own. • Practice with interactive flashcards, reveal answers, review missed cards and export for Anki. • Read answers aloud using voices installed on your device. • Keep local follow-ups, edit or snooze tasks, mark them done and export calendar reminders. LOCAL FILE AND BROWSER TOOLS • Extract text from images and scanned PDFs on your device, with seven OCR languages. • Transcribe chosen English audio recordings locally. Review and correct the text, export it or add it to your document workspace. • Preview duplicate tabs, confirm which to close, group tabs by website and save or restore named sessions locally. • Search conversation history, favorite or rename chats, and export Markdown or JSON backups. Download tables as CSV. • Use light or dark themes and shortcut hints that match your operating system and configured keys. OPTIONAL EMAIL READ ACTIVITY Enable email tracking in the welcome guide or from the side panel. After you allow the service and supported mail sites, LocalPulse prepares the first tracking image automatically. • Gmail and Outlook drafts receive separate tracking images, with a toggle to turn tracking off for each draft. • View estimated read counts and times in LocalPulse, with badges beside supported tracked messages. • Choose optional notifications, give images private names and run a service test without sending an email. • Export password-encrypted backups of your tracking keys and results. Manual images and a custom server option are available in advanced settings. Tracking never sends email subjects, message bodies, recipient addresses or private image names to the tracking service. It never sends emails for you. The separate public, open-source service queues encrypted image-request timestamps. Your extension decrypts and saves the results locally, then authorizes deletion of those queued events. Private keys stay in your extension or password-encrypted backup. Tracking images and uncollected events have no time-based expiry; capacity and free hosting limits still apply. YOU CHOOSE WHAT LEAVES YOUR DEVICE Local-only AI mode keeps pages and questions out of cloud AI. Set sites that must never be sent and review cloud consent. Saved research, history and tab sessions stay in your browser until you delete them or explicitly export them. Separately enabled tracking, model downloads and explicit web searches contact their disclosed services. The extension has no analytics or advertising, and needs no LocalPulse account. GOOD TO KNOW • Local AI availability depends on your browser and hardware. OCR, audio and in-browser AI need model-data downloads before first use. The welcome guide helps you choose a setup. • Audio transcription currently supports English. Models, OCR and transcription can make mistakes; check important results. • Email counts measure image requests, not proof that a person read a message. Mail apps can block, preload or cache images; proxies and scanners can affect counts. Disclose tracking to recipients. Hosting providers can observe network metadata under their policies. • Cloud AI services you choose may have their own accounts, usage limits or charges.
