Overview

Reads page text aloud from the selected word using a local MLX Audio TTS server.

Nuvoread reads webpage text aloud from the word you choose. Select text, press the floating play button, and continue listening from that point with sentence and optional word-level highlighting. The extension works with an OpenAI-compatible text-to-speech API URL. By default it is configured for a local MLX Audio speech server at http://127.0.0.1:9876, and you can change the API URL in the extension options. Speech server setup: https://github.com/kanihal/speech-server Nuvoread does not use a developer-operated cloud service, advertising, analytics, or an account system. Page text selected for reading is sent only to the API URL you configure.
