NudeNyang Web Translator translates eligible visible webpage text while preserving the existing page structure and links. It connects to the separately installed NudeNyang Windows companion, which provides the translation engine. The extension does not include its own translation model. Requirements Windows 10 or Windows 11 and a compatible NudeNyang Windows companion are required. The companion must be installed and running. Private reading requires a companion that supports consent policy version 5, available from version 0.7.4-beta. Webpage translation Use the extension popup or F4 to enable or disable translation across all current and new tabs in the browser. Choose a target language and save per-site preferences. Translate eligible visible headings, paragraphs, lists, quotations, image captions and identifiable read-only interface labels. Input values, editable content, code, amounts and marked identifiers are excluded. Optional private reading After reviewing the privacy notice and explicitly consenting, you can translate visible text in the currently open conversation on supported messaging services and the subject and visible body of a currently opened message in supported webmail reading views. The extension does not open other conversations or messages. Conversation and message lists, contacts, author and sender/recipient details, drafts, compose fields, attachments and send controls are excluded. Earlier consent is not expanded automatically. Translation and privacy Select a local AI model or an external translation provider in the Windows companion. Local models process translation on your PC. If you choose an external provider, the text needed for translation is sent to that provider under its policies. The developer operates no translation relay, analytics or webpage-content storage server. In regular windows, cached source text and translations are encrypted using Windows user-scoped protection and follow the companion's retention and deletion settings. Changing pages or withdrawing consent does not automatically delete existing cache entries. You can manage stored history in the companion. Private windows do not use the disk cache. The extension itself stores settings and consent information, not webpage or conversation bodies. Some browser-protected pages and unsupported reading layouts cannot be translated.
