Overview

Converts static WebP downloads to PNG and supports PNG copy/save fallbacks.

I hate noticing WebP. When you're researching online, copying an image into PowerPoint, Word, or another editor should take two seconds: find an image, copy it, paste it, and keep working. Then a WebP appears. PowerPoint Web may respond with “Can't paste the picture”, breaking your flow. You have to save the file, convert it to PNG, find the converted file, and insert it manually. NoWebP is a Chrome extension for WebP to PNG workflows that makes those interruptions largely disappear. WHAT NOWEBP DOES • Automatic WebP downloads Download a supported static WebP normally and NoWebP saves it as PNG instead. • Copy image as PNG Right-click a supported static WebP, JPEG, or PNG and choose “Copy image as PNG” to put standard PNG image data on your clipboard. • Save image as PNG… Right-click an image and choose “Save image as PNG…” to save a PNG using Chrome's normal save dialog. • Standalone WebP keyboard copy Open a supported static WebP in its own tab and press ⌘C on macOS or Ctrl+C on Windows/Linux to copy PNG image data. PRIVACY AND SAFETY • PNG conversion runs locally in Chrome. • No image data is sent to a NoWebP cloud conversion service. • No tracking or advertising. • No clipboardRead permission. • Animated WebP is preserved rather than silently flattened. • Very large images are left unchanged when they exceed the safety limit. • Source retrieval is restricted to HTTPS. KNOWN LIMITATION Chrome's built-in “Copy Image” command cannot be intercepted by extensions. For PNG clipboard output, use NoWebP's “Copy image as PNG” command instead. No converter website. No format check. No unnecessary interruption. Just keep working. Want to test it first?
