Notte is a free dark mode and accessibility extension built for people with low vision. It darkens overly bright websites with a true high-contrast dark theme — not a crude color inversion — and adds a set of reading and vision tools that make any page more comfortable to look at. Notte began as a dark mode tool for the low-vision community (its author has a degenerative eye condition) and has grown into a full user-side accessibility toolkit. Everything is free: no ads, no subscriptions, no analytics, no data collection. Nothing you do leaves your device. What Notte does: - Dark mode that remaps each site's colors into a readable, high-contrast dark theme, keeps images and video natural, and automatically stays out of the way on sites that already ship their own dark mode. - Contrast boost for text that's too faint to read. - Warm tint to cut blue light and reduce eye strain. - Emphasize links so they're easy to spot. - Reduce motion to stop animations and autoplay. - Strong focus outlines for clear keyboard navigation. - Brightness and saturation controls to dial any page down to comfort. - Dim images, larger text, and extra letter and line spacing for easier reading. - A clearer, dyslexia-friendly font option. Every setting is per-site, so you tune a website once and Notte remembers it — and the tools work on both dark and bright pages.
