)Overview
Open-source publisher context and formal post-publication signals for scholarly literature.
Tired of opening extra tabs to check a paper’s publisher, publication updates or references? Notandia brings that context into the page you’re already reading. Previously known as MDPI Filter, Notandia helps you notice watched publishers and follow citations while browsing scientific literature: from search results to journal articles and encyclopedia references. On supported pages, it highlights matching references and their linked citations or footnotes. 🔍 SPOT THE PUBLISHERS YOU FOLLOW MDPI and Frontiers are included as built-in publisher profiles. You can also create your own watchlists using domains and DOI prefixes. Choose how matches appear: add a badge, highlight them, dim them or hide them. Control each publisher independently and choose colors that work for you. A publisher match helps you organize what you want to notice. It is not a judgment about a paper’s quality. 📚 FIND THE REFERENCE, FOLLOW THE CITATION Checking a long bibliography shouldn’t mean hunting through every entry. Notandia highlights matching references and their linked citations or footnotes on supported pages. Open the popup for an overview, then jump directly to a relevant reference while keeping your place in the article. ⚠️ NOTICE WHAT CHANGED AFTER PUBLICATION A citation can remain in an article long after the cited paper has been corrected or retracted. Enable optional publication-update checks to look for registered retractions, corrections, expressions of concern and other formal notices through the Crossref API. These notices appear separately from publisher matches, so you can distinguish who published a paper from what happened after publication. Coverage depends on available DOI metadata. An unresolved or failed check is not a clean result, and finding no notice does not guarantee that a paper has no issues. 🎛️ KEEP CONTROL OF YOUR READING EXPERIENCE Enable the publisher profiles you need, adjust their appearance and create custom watchlists. Import or export your settings, and decide whether to enable external metadata lookups and publication-update checks. 🛡️ YOUR PAGES STAY IN YOUR BROWSER Page analysis and publisher matching happen locally. External lookups are disabled by default. When you enable them, the NCBI PMC ID Converter API receives validated scholarly identifiers to help identify articles, and the Crossref API receives normalized DOIs to check publication updates. These providers also receive normal network metadata, such as your IP address. Requests omit credentials and referrers. Notandia does not send complete webpages, citation text, search queries, browsing history, publisher settings, cookies or account identifiers to the developer. No ads. No product analytics. No remote executable code. 🧩 OPEN SOURCE AND INDEPENDENT Notandia’s code is open for inspection. The project is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by publishers or metadata providers. Less manual checking. More context where you need it.
