Select a word — or a short expression — and right-click to get its definition directly in an inline tooltip. Not a Translator lets you understand unfamiliar words in their original language, while also providing translation and time, temperature, and unit conversions when needed. Why a dictionary instead of a translator? A translation tells you what a word means in another language. It is a switch, a conversion table, often improper. On the other side, a dictionary helps you understand the word itself, its place in its own language, with your intuition. When you're reading in another language, looking up a word shouldn't force you to leave the page, open another tab, and lose your reading flow. Not a Translator keeps the definition right where you need it. And when you actually need a translation, it's there too. A few limitations : Some websites use complex JavaScript, iframes, or other techniques that can interfere with tooltip creation. If a tooltip doesn't appear, refreshing the page will usually solve the problem. A console provides a failsafe mode for the more reluctant sites. Multi-word expressions and idioms can also be difficult to identify automatically. In that case, selecting fewer words or opening the dictionary directly from the tooltip can help. Supported languages : Not a Translator currently provides dictionaries in English, Spanish, and French... (see picture). And it also offers translation support for Latin and Greek, as well as basic support for other languages when words are embedded in a different language.
