Overview

Opens YouTube videos in NoSuggest, a distraction-free viewer, and lets you follow channels there. No data is collected.

NoSuggest Redirect makes NoSuggest your starting point for YouTube. Switch it on, and whenever you open YouTube in your browser, you land in NoSuggest instead: a calm, free viewer that shows only the channels you have chosen to follow. No recommendations, no trending feed, no autoplay, no Shorts. Just the videos you came to watch, and a natural place to stop when you are done. The extension has a single purpose: to help you watch YouTube through NoSuggest. It sends YouTube visits to NoSuggest, opens any video link you receive right there, lets you follow channels from YouTube pages, and has one clear switch to turn the redirect on or off. It does not block, hide or change anything on YouTube itself. ABOUT NOSUGGEST NoSuggest is a free web app for watching the YouTube channels you choose, without recommendations, trending feeds, autoplay or Shorts. You add the channels you care about, and NoSuggest shows you their latest videos, in a clean, quiet layout. Your channel list is kept on your own device. It works in any modern browser, can be installed to your home screen or desktop like an app, and includes a PIN-protected Kids Mode for families. Pasting a YouTube video link into its search box plays that video. NoSuggest Redirect is the optional companion that makes it effortless: install it, and your YouTube visits begin in NoSuggest. WHY THE EXTENSION EXISTS YouTube is a remarkable library of learning, creativity and entertainment, and many people rely on it every day. Students, professionals and families often want something simple: to go straight to the channels and videos they chose, and then get on with their day. NoSuggest Redirect exists to support that choice. Opening YouTube normally brings you to a home page of suggestions, which is a perfectly good way to discover new content. But if you already know who you want to watch, a different starting point can serve you better: your own short list of channels, with the newest videos waiting. NoSuggest is that starting point, and the extension makes it the default, so you do not have to remember to use it. WHAT YOU GET • One-click control. Click the toolbar icon to open a small panel with an ON/OFF switch. A badge on the icon shows the current state at a glance, and the icon turns grey when the redirect is off. • A calmer way to watch. NoSuggest shows the latest videos from the channels you follow, and nothing else. • It fits the way you already browse. Type youtube.com, click a YouTube link, open an old bookmark: with the extension on, they all lead to NoSuggest. • Shared videos just play. When a friend or colleague sends you a YouTube link in WhatsApp Web, Teams, email or anywhere else, it opens in NoSuggest and plays right there. Shorts links work too: one short, then you are done, with no scrolling. • Open or follow from any YouTube page. A small banner on video and channel pages (while the redirect is off), the toolbar panel and the right-click menu offer "Watch in NoSuggest" and "Follow this channel in NoSuggest". • Videos that still play. NoSuggest plays videos through YouTube's own embedded player and uses YouTube's official API, so the creators you follow remain front and center. • A safety valve for videos that cannot be embedded. Some channels do not allow their videos to play outside YouTube. For those, NoSuggest offers a "Watch on YouTube" button. The extension lets that one video open, then returns you to NoSuggest when you move on. • Private by design. The extension collects no data at all: no analytics, no tracking, no accounts. • Free. No ads, no subscriptions, no payments of any kind. HOW IT WORKS, STEP BY STEP 1. Install the extension. NoSuggest opens once in a new tab, so you can see right away what you have installed. 2. Add the channels you want to follow in NoSuggest. Paste a channel's @handle or a link to its channel page. Or, while browsing YouTube with the redirect off, click the toolbar icon or right-click and choose "Follow this channel in NoSuggest". 3. From then on, with the redirect ON, opening YouTube takes you to your NoSuggest feed. 4. When someone sends you a YouTube video link, simply click it. The video opens and plays in NoSuggest. 5. Watch what you came for. If a video cannot be played inside NoSuggest, use its "Watch on YouTube" button. The video opens on YouTube. If you click anything else there, or the video ends and YouTube moves on to another one, you are brought back to NoSuggest. 6. Want to browse YouTube freely for a while? Click the toolbar icon and switch the redirect OFF. Switch it back ON whenever you like. That is the whole product: nothing to configure and no account to create. WHY INSTALL IT Intention over impulse. Deciding what to watch before you open a video is different from choosing from a screen of suggestions. You curate your list once, and every visit after that starts from it. Less friction than willpower. A tool that quietly sets your starting point removes the need to stay vigilant, because you simply never arrive at the home page. A natural stopping point. A feed of only the channels you follow has an end. Watch the new videos, and you are done. It stays out of your way. When you need the full YouTube site, switch the redirect off in two clicks and back on when you are done. FOR STUDENTS AND LIFELONG LEARNERS Much of the world's best teaching is on YouTube: university lecture series, science and maths explainers, language lessons, coding tutorials, music lessons, history documentaries and practical how-to guides. The challenge for many learners is not finding good material but staying with it once they open the site. With NoSuggest Redirect you can build a study list of channels you trust, such as your course's lecture playlists, a favourite physics explainer, a language teacher and a programming tutor, and keep them together in one place. When you sit down to study, you open YouTube and arrive at exactly that list. Watch the lecture, take your notes, close the tab. This small change can help in three ways: it keeps study sessions focused on the material they planned, it makes returning to a series easy because the newest episode is waiting, and it cuts the number of small decisions standing between sitting down and starting. FOR TEACHERS AND SCHOOLS Educators use video constantly, and curating it takes time. NoSuggest lets a teacher assemble a list of channels that suits a unit, a subject or a year group, and share that list as a link, so students can add the same channels in a few seconds. A single video link works too: when a student opens it, it plays in NoSuggest. With the extension installed on a school or classroom computer, a student who opens YouTube arrives at the channel list the teacher prepared. That makes it simple to set up a lesson, a library session or a homework station where the starting point is the curated material rather than an open home page. School IT teams can deploy extensions to managed browsers and Chromebooks through their admin console, so the extension can be rolled out to a whole classroom or school at once. To be clear about what this is: NoSuggest Redirect is a helpful default, not a content filter or a replacement for your school's existing safeguards and supervision. It sets where a visit begins. It does not inspect or restrict content, and anyone with access to the browser's extension settings can switch it off. FOR PARENTS AND FAMILIES Families often want children to enjoy the good parts of YouTube, such as science shows, art tutorials, music and storytelling, without handing them an open feed. NoSuggest was built with that in mind. Parents choose the channels, and NoSuggest includes a PIN-protected Kids Mode for family use. On a shared family computer, the extension means that a child who opens YouTube arrives at the list of channels you picked, and not at a home page. For younger children, who are unlikely to go looking in a browser's extension settings, it works as a gentle, everyday default. To be honest about its limits: NoSuggest Redirect is not a lock or a full parental-control system. It only affects the browser it is installed in, and an older child or an adult can switch it off. Use it alongside your usual device controls. FOR PROFESSIONALS AND DEEP WORK For many people, YouTube is a work tool: conference talks, product demos, software tutorials, engineering deep dives, design critiques, industry interviews and training material. It is easy for a quick check on a tutorial to turn into a long session. With NoSuggest Redirect, opening YouTube during the working day takes you to your own professional watch list: the conference channels, the tutorial series and the experts you follow for your field. You can find the new talk, watch it, and return to your work. There is no home page to scroll and no extra decision about what to watch next. When a colleague shares a video link in Teams or a chat, it opens and plays in NoSuggest, so you see that video and nothing else. It also supports focused work blocks. Leave the redirect on during the day, and switch it off deliberately when you decide to browse. The switch makes that a conscious choice rather than a drift. "WATCH ON YOUTUBE", EXPLAINED Some channels turn off embedding, which means their videos cannot be played inside other websites, including NoSuggest. That is entirely the creator's choice, and NoSuggest respects it. In those cases NoSuggest shows a "Watch on YouTube" button. When the redirect is on, the extension allows exactly one page through: the video you opened from that button. You watch the video on YouTube as the creator intended. If you then click a suggested video, click the YouTube logo, or let the video finish and YouTube moves to another one, the extension brings you back to NoSuggest. Reloading that page also returns you to NoSuggest. Videos you play inside NoSuggest itself are not affected by the extension. CONTROLS • Toolbar panel: click the NoSuggest icon to open it. It shows the current state, an ON/OFF switch, a one-line explanation and an "Open NoSuggest" button. • Pinning: to keep the icon visible, click the puzzle-piece button in your browser's toolbar and pin NoSuggest Redirect. • On-page banner: while the redirect is off, YouTube video, Shorts and channel pages show a small banner with "Watch in NoSuggest" and "Follow ..." buttons. It shrinks to a small N after a few seconds. Click the N to bring it back, or the x to hide it for that page. • Page actions: the toolbar panel and the right-click menu offer the same two options. NoSuggest asks you to confirm before it adds a channel. • Remembered setting: your ON/OFF choice is remembered between browser sessions. WHAT THE EXTENSION DOES NOT DO We would rather you know the details before you install: • It does not block, filter, hide or alter anything on YouTube, and it does not change how YouTube works for anyone. • It is not a lock or a parental-control system. Anyone can switch it off from the panel or remove it from the browser. • It does not affect YouTube Music, YouTube Studio, YouTube Kids, or the YouTube mobile and TV apps. • Links to a single video, including Shorts, open that video in NoSuggest. Links to playlists, channels and search results open your NoSuggest feed. NoSuggest's Kids Mode ignores shared video links on purpose. • While it is on, YouTube search, sign-in and your account pages are not reachable through the browser. Switch it off when you need them. • It does not run in private or incognito windows unless you allow it in the browser's extension settings. • It is made for desktop browsers on computers and Chromebooks. Most mobile browsers do not run this kind of extension. PRIVACY AND PERMISSIONS, IN PLAIN LANGUAGE NoSuggest Redirect collects no data. It has no analytics and no tracking, it does not use accounts, and the extension itself never transmits anything to NoSuggest or to any other server. • The redirect itself is carried out by your browser using a fixed set of rules built into the extension. The extension does not receive, record or store the addresses you visit. • On YouTube pages, a small script checks only the page address, so that it can send you to NoSuggest if you reach a page that is not allowed, or when you leave the one video you chose to open. While the redirect is off, it also reads the channel's @handle from the page, on your device only, to label the Follow buttons. It does not read your watch history, your YouTube account or anything you type. • Video IDs and channel handles travel to NoSuggest after the # symbol in the address. Browsers never send that part of an address to a server, so it stays on your device. • The only thing it stores is your ON/OFF setting, kept on your own device. It is removed when you uninstall the extension. Why each permission is needed: • Access to youtube.com, m.youtube.com and youtu.be: so the redirect can apply on those addresses. • Network rules (declarativeNetRequest): your browser describes this permission as "Block content on any page". NoSuggest uses it only to redirect those YouTube addresses to NoSuggest. It does not block or change content on any other website. • Storage: to remember your ON/OFF choice. • Context menus: to add the right-click options "View in NoSuggest" and "Follow in NoSuggest". The full privacy policy is at https://www.nosuggest.com/privacy TROUBLESHOOTING • Nothing happens when I open YouTube. Click the toolbar icon and check that the switch is ON. • It still does not redirect. Open your browser's extensions page (chrome://extensions in Chrome, edge://extensions in Edge), choose Details for NoSuggest Redirect, and make sure it is allowed to access YouTube sites. • A YouTube tab I already had open did not redirect. Refresh the tab, or open YouTube in a new one. • It does not work in a private window. Browsers turn extensions off in private windows by default. You can allow it in the extension's details page. • "Follow" cannot find the channel. Open the channel's own page (youtube.com/@name) and try again. • I cannot see the icon. Click the puzzle-piece button in the toolbar and pin NoSuggest Redirect. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Do I need an account?
