"NoShorts for YouTube" is a browser extension to provide a cleaner, more focused YouTube experience by completely removing YouTube Shorts and other distractions from the platform. It employs a multi-layered strategy to ensure that Shorts are not just hidden, but effectively blocked from your view. How it works: It uses Chrome's declarativeNetRequest API, a modern and highly efficient way to intercept and modify web requests. A specific rule (rules.json) is defined to watch for any navigation to a URL containing youtube.com/shorts/. The result: If you click a link to a Short (from an external site, a message, etc.) or manually type in a Shorts URL, the extension immediately intercepts this request and redirects you to the standard YouTube homepage. This happens before the page even begins to load, providing a seamless and non-disruptive block. Dynamic Content Removal (The Cleanup Crew) YouTube's interface is not static; it constantly loads new content as you scroll or navigate. The extension is built to handle this dynamic environment intelligently.
