Overview
Same Hacker News. Less eye pain, more signal. Reading layer with dark mode and visited tracking.
NODUS HN Radar is a reading layer + signal dashboard for Hacker News. Same HN. Less eye pain. More signal. WHAT IT DOES • Lens — Dark/light/auto theme, adjustable font size, reading-width control, visited posts grayed out, compact mode. Subtle improvements that respect HN's aesthetic. • Type badges — Inline SHOW / ASK / LAUNCH / TELL / POLL pills directly on titles, with color-coded row tints. One glance tells you what kind of post you're looking at. • Pin & tag threads — Pin any post, add multicolored tags (color hashed from name). Tags propagate back onto the HN page next to the title for quick scanning. • Radar dashboard — Top / Show HN / Ask HN / Best, each with per-post velocity score (points + comments per hour) and delta indicator. Spot what's rising before it explodes. • OP active badge — Golden badge appears when the post's author has replied in the thread. The "founder is here" signal HN readers love. • Hot discussion alert — Subtle chip when a thread crosses 150+ comments. 🔥 fire when it crosses 400+. Threads worth visiting. • Inline comment preview — Hover "X comments" on any pinned card to see the top 5 inline. No more tab-switching just to scan a discussion. • Built-in translation — Uses Chrome's local Translator API (138+) for post titles and comment previews. No API keys, no cloud, no cost. • Mute domains — Tired of medium.com? x.com? Add domains to your mute list and they vanish from the Radar. • Zebra striping — Optional alternating row backgrounds with custom color and intensity for Excel-style scanning. PRIVACY-FIRST BY DESIGN Everything you pin, tag, or hide stays in your browser. Two network calls only: news.ycombinator.com and Hacker News' public Firebase API. No server. No account. No telemetry. No tracking. No ad SDKs. Uninstalling deletes everything. 16 LANGUAGES English, Português, Español, Français, Deutsch, Italiano, Nederlands, 日本語, 한국어, 中文, Русский, Polski, Türkçe, हिन्दी, Bahasa Indonesia, Tiếng Việt. Made by an HN reader, for HN readers.
