Overview

A global dark theme for the web. Dynamic per-page color inversion, simple/filter fallbacks, per-site control and scheduling.

Noctis turns the bright web dark - on any site, instantly. Most pages are still built light-first. Noctis rewrites them into a comfortable dark theme so late-night reading, low-light rooms, and long screen sessions stop straining your eyes. One click (or Alt+Shift+D) toggles it everywhere. ━━ THREE WAYS TO GO DARK ━━ • Dynamic (default) - The smart engine reads each site's own stylesheets and recolors backgrounds, text, borders, and icons toward a dark palette using real luminance + HSL math. It never edits the site's CSS, so layouts stay intact. Handles cross-origin styles, @media/@supports blocks, content that loads after the page, and even Shadow DOM / web components. • Simple - A fast, clean blanket dark theme from your chosen palette. Great when you want speed over per-element fidelity. • Filter - A universal invert + hue-rotate that works on absolutely anything, with photos and videos re-inverted so they still look right. ━━ BUILT TO FEEL RIGHT ━━ • No white flash - pages are darkened before they paint, so you never get blinded on load. • Already-dark detection - sites that already ship their own dark theme are left alone automatically. • Tells you why - if a page is skipped, Noctis shows a small note explaining why (already dark, or on your site list) with a one-click "Darken anyway." • Per-site control - keep dark mode off on chosen sites (exclude list) or run it ONLY on sites you pick (include list). Toggle from the toolbar or right-click. • Scheduling - go dark and light automatically at the times you set. • Color temperature - an optional warm overlay cuts blue light for night use. • Your palette - customize background, text, link, visited, and border colors. ━━ FAST & PRIVATE ━━ • No accounts, no sign-in, no tracking, no ads. • Noctis does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Your settings live only in your browser. • Works offline. ━━ HOW TO USE ━━ 1. Click the moon icon to open the popup — toggle dark mode, switch styles, or turn it off for just the current site. (Alt+Shift+D toggles instantly.) 2. Open "All settings" for the full controls: mode, custom colors, per-site lists, schedule, and night-light warmth. Note: browsers don't allow extensions to run on internal pages like chrome:// or the Chrome Web Store. On those pages the popup simply tells you it can't run there. Love it or hit a site that doesn't look right? Use the right-click menu to exclude it, or switch that tab to Filter mode for guaranteed coverage.
