Overview

Stops impulse purchases: 7 warning stages before every checkout. Cancelled purchases earn XP and count as money saved.

You went in for one thing. Somehow there are now four things in your cart, one of them is a lamp shaped like a duck, and your thumb is already hovering over "Buy now". That's where NO! (- don't buy it) shows up. The second you click "Buy now", "Checkout" or "Place order", the page goes grey and dies under a giant red stop sign. A fox appears. The fox is not impressed. Want to buy it anyway? Sure. Just get past seven warning signs first. Or cancel, keep your money, and get points for it. Yes, this is deliberately annoying. That's the entire product. ── THE SEVEN STAGES ── Each one has its own road sign, its own uncomfortable question and its own fox. 1. Do you really need this? Not "would be nice". Need. Would your everyday life actually be worse without it? 2. Would you still buy it tomorrow? Sleep on it. The offer is almost always still there tomorrow, and if it isn't, another one is right behind it. "Today only" is a sales tactic, not a law of nature. 3. Is it really worth the money? Tell the extension your net hourly wage and this stage answers in work hours instead of euros. "That's 4.3 hours of your life" hits differently than "€89.99". Brutal, but effective. 4. Are you just bored? This one knows what time it is, and it says so out loud. Boredom, frustration and late evenings on the sofa are the best customers any shop has. Be honest: were you thinking about this an hour ago? 5. What else could you do with the money? Your cart gets converted into pizzas, cinema nights, months of streaming, full tanks of fuel or weekend trips. Suddenly that gadget is "six months of streaming" and the magic fades a little. 6. Why the rush? Here's your savings streak, in numbers. Money saved so far, purchases prevented, your current level. Still want to be the one who breaks it over a duck lamp? 7. Last exit. Final sign, final decision. From stage 5 onwards there's a countdown on the continue button, so nobody speed-runs their way into regret. ── WHAT YOU GET FOR SAYING NO ── Cancelling isn't a loss, it's a score. Every cancelled purchase becomes money saved plus XP, and the further up the stages you cancelled, the more the extension nudges you next time. - TEN LEVELS, from "Impulse buyer" up to "Legend of No", with stops at "Cart hesitator", "Price comparer" and "Savings fox" along the way. - TEN ACHIEVEMENTS, including one for cancelling at the very first sign, one for holding out all the way to stage 7, one for blocking a purchase of 250 or more, and one for staying strong in the middle of the night. - TEN FOXES TO COLLECT, one per level. The rookie fox, the clipboard fox, the construction-site fox, the office fox, the AI fox, and finally the legendary fox. Yes, it's a collection mechanic. Yes, it works on all of us. Your dashboard keeps score: money kept, purchases prevented, purchases you pushed through anyway, and your resist rate as a percentage. It is weirdly satisfying to watch that number climb instead of your card statement. ── WHEN YOU ACTUALLY DO WANT IT ── Not every purchase is a mistake, and this extension is not here to babysit you. Click through all seven stages and NO! gets completely out of the way. Not just on that one shop, but everywhere, including payment providers and your bank's security check, so nothing breaks halfway through your order. By default the pause lasts 30 minutes, and you can change it or end it early from the popup whenever you want. One important detail: the extension never clicks the buy button for you. After the seventh stage it highlights the original button in green and you click it yourself. That sounds like a small thing, but it's the difference between an order that actually goes through and a "thank you" page for a purchase that silently never happened. ── WORKS ON A LOT OF SHOPS ── Detection runs on button wording, ARIA labels and element attributes instead of a fixed list of shops. That means it works across many online stores rather than the three biggest ones, in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch and Polish wording. It also handles the awkward cases: shops built as single-page apps that load their content dynamically, buy buttons hidden inside web components, forms submitted with the Enter key, and checkout pages you open straight from a link or a bookmark. ── MAKE IT YOUR OWN ── - SIX LANGUAGES for the interface: English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Português, Italiano. Or let it follow your browser language. - STRICT MODE: if your problem starts earlier than checkout, get stopped at "Add to cart" instead. - PAUSE LENGTH: how long the extension steps aside after you push through, from 1 to 120 minutes. - HOURLY WAGE: optional, powers the "that's X hours of work" reality check in stage 3. - EXCLUDED SITES: any domain where you never want to see it, one per line. - CURRENCY: for your dashboard and for amounts where no currency was detected. - TEST BUTTON: try all seven stages whenever you like, without it counting. ── PRIVACY: BORING, ON PURPOSE ── A shopping extension that phones home about your shopping would be a bad joke. So this one doesn't. Everything stays on your device, in your browser's local storage. No servers, no accounts, no sign-up, no analytics, no tracking pixels, no ads, and nobody selling your shopping habits to anyone. It never reads passwords, cookies, session tokens, card numbers or bank details, and it doesn't touch payment forms embedded in iframes. It doesn't store the full addresses of pages you visit or the titles of products you looked at. What it does keep is deliberately minimal: the shop's hostname, the amount, the warning stage and whether you cancelled, so your statistics have something to show. You can export everything as a JSON file or wipe all of it with one button, any time. Uninstalling deletes the lot as well. ── FREQUENTLY ASKED ── "Will this stop me from buying things I actually need?" No. It delays you, it doesn't block you. Groceries, a replacement charger, the thing you've been saving for: click through and buy. The seven stages take under a minute. Impulse buys rarely survive that minute. Necessary purchases always do. "Does it break checkouts?" It shouldn't. Once you're through, it steps aside completely, everywhere, so payment providers and bank verification pages work normally. Adding things to your cart isn't blocked at all unless you turn on strict mode. "What if it pops up on a site that isn't a shop?" Add that domain to the excluded list and it will never appear there again. "Can I turn it off?" Yes, with one switch in the popup. It asks once if you're sure, because that's kind of the point of installing it. "Does it need an account?" No. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to log into, nothing to subscribe to. ── WHO THIS IS FOR ── People who know exactly what their weak spot is. Late-night scrolling. Sales countdowns. "It's only €20." Boredom shopping. Three tabs open on payday. You don't need more willpower. You need something standing between your thumb and the button, and a fox that asks you the question you were avoiding. Install it, buy less rubbish, and watch the number go up. NO! is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any online shop, marketplace or payment provider. ==================================================================== Du wolltest nur kurz was nachschauen. (- don't buy it) auf. 5. 6. Warum so eilig? Hier steht deine Bilanz in Zahlen. Gespartes Geld, verhinderte Käufe, dein aktuelles Level.
