Overview

One-click web evidence: full-page screenshot + MHTML of the current page, SHA-256, OpenTimestamps + RFC-3161, one ZIP.

Evidence Snapshot saves the web page you're looking at as a self-contained, independently verifiable evidence bundle — one ZIP file that anyone can check later with standard tools, no account and no special software. Click the toolbar icon, press "Preserve this page", and the extension: • Captures a full-page screenshot (the entire scroll height, not just the visible area) of the current tab. • Saves the page's DOM and resources as a single MHTML file — the actual text, not just an image. • Computes a SHA-256 fingerprint of each file and combines them, the page URL, and the capture time into one canonical "evidence digest". • Timestamps that digest two independent ways: OpenTimestamps (anchored to the Bitcoin blockchain, trustless) and RFC-3161 (a signed timestamp from the free freetsa.org authority, precise to the second). • Packs the screenshot, MHTML, a manifest, a plain-text summary, step-by-step verification instructions, and the timestamp proofs into evidence-<id>-<date>.zip and downloads it. Optionally paste an archive.today link first (from its "share" button) — a neutral third-party copy that survives the original being deleted — and it's folded into the digest too. Everything runs on your own computer. The page's content never leaves your machine; only the 32-byte hash is sent to the timestamp servers, and it cannot be turned back into the page. No analytics, no tracking, no developer server, no remote code. Bundles are the same format as the web version at evidence-snapshot.pages.dev, so you can drop a ZIP into its "Verify" tab to re-check every element, or upgrade a pending OpenTimestamps proof once it's on-chain. Chromium desktop (Chrome, Edge, Brave). Not legal advice — for weighty matters also use a certified service.
