Downloads Library & Organizer
Overview
A private-by-design downloads library with progress tracking, file actions, and optional folder routing.
Downloads Library & Organizer combines a desktop-style download manager with a powerful per-website download router. Automatically organize new downloads from websites you choose into category folders beneath your normal Downloads directory. Create separate routing rules for different domains, subdomains, and URL paths, then choose which file categories each rule should organize. Website download routing features: • Create independent organization rules for individual websites. • Match an entire domain or narrow a rule by exact path, path prefix, or contained path text. • Optionally include subdomains. • Route videos, images, audio, documents, archives, applications, and other enabled categories into separate folders. • Choose a custom base folder and category-folder structure for each website. • Leave disabled categories and unrelated websites completely unchanged. • Choose how filename conflicts are handled. • Test a rule before relying on it. • Export and import routing settings as JSON. • Review privacy-safe session diagnostics containing hostnames rather than full URLs, filenames, or local paths. Routing is entirely opt-in. It remains inactive until you create and enable a rule. Destinations are always relative to the browser’s normal Downloads folder, preventing rules from writing to arbitrary locations. The router uses browser-provided download metadata and does not request host permissions or read ordinary webpage content. The dedicated Downloads Library also lets you: • Open or focus one desktop-style downloads window from the toolbar menu or with Ctrl+Shift+Y (Command+Shift+Y on macOS). • Search download history and filter records by Active, Completed, or Failed status. • Group downloads by Today, Yesterday, Previous 7 Days, and Older. • Monitor active transfers with live progress, smoothed speed, and estimated time remaining. • See active, paused, completed, failed, cancelled, missing, and browser-reported warning states. • Pause, resume, cancel, retry, open, show in folder, and copy a download link. • Remove individual history records or clear completed history without deleting files. • Delete a downloaded file only after explicit confirmation while preserving its separate history record. • Display a toolbar badge for new download tasks until the library is opened. • Use light, dark, or system themes with optional window placement memory. • Optionally hide Chrome’s native download bubble or shelf. This setting is disabled by default and can be reversed at any time. • Review actionable dangerous-download warnings from the visible library. Downloads are never accepted automatically. Privacy is built in. Downloads Library & Organizer has no accounts, analytics, advertising, telemetry, developer-operated servers, remote code, host permissions, or ordinary webpage access. Download records, settings, routing rules, and redacted session diagnostics remain on your device and are not transmitted to the developer or sold to third parties. The extension cannot replace chrome://downloads or override the browser-reserved Ctrl+J shortcut. Use the toolbar menu or Ctrl+Shift+Y to open the Downloads Library.
