GlobalDev AI Writing Assistant adds private AI-powered writing assistance directly to supported text fields in Google Chrome. The extension helps you improve spelling, grammar, punctuation, clarity, tone, and overall writing quality while you work on websites and web applications. Unlike writing assistants that require a specific cloud AI provider, GlobalDev AI Writing Assistant connects to the Ollama-compatible endpoint that you configure. You can use a local Ollama installation, a server on your local network, a self-hosted remote endpoint, or another compatible AI gateway. Main features: • Automatic spelling and grammar checking Detect spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and common writing issues after you stop typing in a supported field. • Inline writing suggestions Review detected issues directly inside the webpage and apply suggested corrections without leaving the field you are editing. • AI writing tools Use AI-powered actions to: - Fix grammar - Improve clarity - Rewrite text - Shorten text - Make writing more formal - Make writing more casual • Works inside supported web forms GlobalDev AI Writing Assistant supports compatible text inputs, textareas, content-editable fields, contact forms, web applications, and browser-based editors. • Dedicated AI Editor Open the built-in editor for longer text and apply the same grammar, clarity, rewrite, shorten, formal, and casual writing tools. • Use your own AI model Connect to your preferred Ollama-compatible endpoint and select the model you want to use. Supported endpoint types include: - Local Ollama installations - LAN Ollama servers - Self-hosted remote servers - Ollama-compatible HTTPS endpoints - Private AI gateways • Custom HTTP headers Configure authentication or routing headers for private servers and gateways, including Authorization, API key, or custom headers. • Per-site controls Enable or disable the writing assistant for individual websites. • Configurable automatic checking Choose whether automatic spelling and grammar checking is enabled and configure the delay before text is analyzed. • Multiple writing languages Choose a primary writing language or use automatic language detection. Privacy and control Your text is sent only to the Ollama-compatible endpoint that you configure when AI processing is required. When a local Ollama endpoint is used, AI processing can remain on your own computer. The extension is designed to exclude supported sensitive fields such as password fields, PINs, one-time authentication codes, and security-related inputs from writing analysis. GlobalDev AI Writing Assistant does not include advertising functionality and does not use your writing for targeted advertising. Requirements AI-powered functionality requires access to an Ollama or Ollama-compatible model server. Ollama is not bundled with the extension.
