NK Currency — Realtime Page Price Converter (Listing copy aligned with package version 1.0.2) Convert prices on any webpage into your preferred currency — instantly, privately, and transparently. NK Currency is a lightweight Chrome extension that finds prices with currency symbols or codes on the page you are viewing and shows the converted amount in the currency you choose (default: Sri Lankan Rupee / LKR). It is built for shoppers, freelancers, travelers, and anyone comparing prices across sites and currencies. Detects prices on the page (for example $99, €49.99, £20, USD 45, 10 EUR). 2. Converts them using public mid-market exchange rates from Frankfurter. 3. Shows the result beside the original price (or replaces it, if you prefer). 4. Works as you browse: convert only when you click, or enable full realtime conversion. ═══════════════════════════════════════ KEY FEATURES ═══════════════════════════════════════ PREFERRED CURRENCY • Choose from 160+ currencies supported by Frankfurter (including LKR, USD, EUR, GBP, INR, and many more). • Searchable currency picker in Settings — find a currency by code or name. WHEN TO CONVERT • Full realtime — automatically converts visible prices as you browse. • Click-triggered — pages stay unchanged until you press “Convert this page” in the popup. DISPLAY OPTIONS • Beside original — keep the original price and append ≈ converted amount. • Replace original — show only the converted value. • Show currency symbols — toggle symbol-style formatting (where available) vs plain code/amount. • Full price — show the calculated converted total. • Rate only — show the exchange rate style (for example 1 USD = …). SMART & LIGHTWEIGHT • Converts only prices that are visible (or near the viewport) to reduce unnecessary work and API use. • Caches exchange rates locally for about 6 hours to avoid repeated network calls. • Watches dynamic pages (infinite scroll / SPA updates) after conversion is active. • Clear conversions anytime from the popup. DESIGN • Clean teal branding consistent with the NK Currency icon. • Converted amounts use readable dark-green text on light pages (and a lighter teal on dark backgrounds). ═══════════════════════════════════════ EXCHANGE RATES — FRANKFURTER.DEV ═══════════════════════════════════════ NK Currency uses the free, open Frankfurter exchange-rate API: • Website: https://frankfurter.dev • API host used by this extension: https://api.frankfurter.dev What this means in practice: • No API key is required for Frankfurter’s public API. • Rates are mid-market reference rates (typically updated about once per day — not tick-by-tick trading quotes). • Suitable for shopping comparisons, budgeting, and everyday browsing — not for live forex trading or financial advice. • The extension requests only exchange-rate data needed for conversion (for example rate pairs such as USD→LKR). We do not proxy your browsing history through our own servers. Rate requests go from your browser (via the extension service worker) to Frankfurter’s public API. ═══════════════════════════════════════ PRIVACY — WHAT WE COLLECT AND WHAT WE DON’T ═══════════════════════════════════════ Designed to be privacy-first: DOES NOT collect • Your name, email, or account identity for NK Currency accounts (there are none). • Browsing history lists sent to the developer. • Keystrokes, passwords, screenshots, or clipboard contents for exfiltration. • Advertising IDs or third-party tracking pixels. MAY store locally on your device (Chrome storage) • Preferred currency • Conversion mode and display preferences • Cached exchange rates (temporary, to reduce API calls) Page access • Content scripts read visible text on pages only to detect price patterns and show conversions when you enable conversion. • Default mode is click-triggered (“Convert this page” in the popup). Full realtime conversion is optional in Settings. • It does not rewrite site scripts for malicious purposes and does not inject unrelated ads. Network • The only outbound host used for conversion is https://api.frankfurter.dev (JSON rate data only — not remote code). • No browsing history is uploaded to the developer. Required so conversion works on arbitrary shopping and travel sites you visit. Scripts ship inside the package (declarative content_scripts); the extension does not use the scripting API. Not requested: • scripting • activeTab • tabs • Google account, camera, microphone, or downloads ═══════════════════════════════════════ HOW TO USE ═══════════════════════════════════════ 1. Click the NK Currency icon in the toolbar. 2. Pick your preferred currency (or open Settings for full options). 3. If you use click-triggered mode, press “Convert this page”. 4. Or enable Full realtime in Settings so conversions happen automatically as you browse. 5. Use “Clear conversions” to restore original page text.
