VidWords opens in Chrome’s side panel, allowing you to read and work with a video’s captions without switching tabs. READ AND SEARCH TRANSCRIPTS • Follow the transcript while the video plays. • Click a timestamp to jump to that moment. • Search the transcript and highlight matching words. • Switch between available caption languages. • Translate captions when translation is available. • Choose timestamped, paragraph, or plain-text views. • Use VidWords on regular YouTube watch pages and Shorts. Live-video support depends on accessible captions. TAKE TIMESTAMPED NOTES Capture ideas while continuing to watch: • Add a note at the current playback position. • Include the relevant transcript line for context. • Optionally attach a still frame from that moment. • Return to the corresponding part of the video by clicking a note’s timestamp. • Export notes as Markdown. • Sync notes and saved transcripts with your VidWords library. COPY, SUMMARIZE, AND EXPORT • Copy the complete transcript. • Export transcripts as TXT, SRT, or VTT. • Generate and export AI summaries. • Ask questions about the transcript with Chat on eligible plans. AI WATCH: UNDERSTAND WHAT CAPTIONS MISS Captions record what was said. AI Watch can also analyze what appears on screen. Open the current video in VidWords AI Watch to: • Analyze slides, charts, products, demonstrations, and visual changes. • Identify important moments and create timestamped chapters. • Ask questions about what was said or shown. • Receive answers supported by quotes, timestamps, and video frames. • Jump from supporting evidence to the corresponding moment. • Create notes based on both speech and visual content. AI Watch opens on vidwords.com and requires an available AI Watch allowance. Availability depends on your VidWords plan. DESIGNED FOR YOUTUBE Open VidWords using: • The extension’s toolbar icon. • The “Open in VidWords” button beneath a supported video. • The right-click context menu. • Chrome’s configurable extension shortcuts. ACCOUNT AND USAGE A VidWords account is required to connect the extension and sync your library. A free plan is available. Some actions—such as extracting a new transcript, translating captions, generating AI content, or transcribing audio when captions are unavailable—may use credits or plan allowances. VidWords displays the applicable cost or allowance in the interface before supported usage actions. Previously saved transcripts may be reopened without another extraction charge while they remain available in your library. Current plan limits and pricing are shown on vidwords.com. PRIVACY The extension requests access only to YouTube, mobile YouTube, and vidwords.com. To provide its features, VidWords processes information about the current video, including its video ID or URL, title, channel, caption language, and transcript text. Notes you choose to save are sent to your VidWords account. If still-frame capture is enabled, the extension may capture one frame from the current video when you create a timestamped note. The frame is shown before saving, can be removed, and can be disabled in the extension settings. The extension does not send your YouTube cookies or Google account credentials to VidWords. Account authorization takes place on vidwords.com, and the extension never receives your password. The extension package contains no remotely loaded JavaScript or WebAssembly. LIMITATIONS A transcript may be unavailable when a video: • Has no accessible captions. • Is private, deleted, members-only, or region-restricted. • Requires age verification or a YouTube sign-in. • Has captions disabled by its owner. When captions are unavailable, VidWords may offer audio transcription where supported. VidWords is not affiliated with YouTube or Google. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC.
