Nitrogen - in the element series
Nitrogen - N This is a new series or collection that I am starting called "Element". This element is Nitrogen and its element abbreviation is N. In french, Nitrogen is called "Azote", named by famous chemist Antoine Lavoisier. Azote is from the greek "azoein" meaning lifeless. Nitrogen is a lifeless gas meaning that it does not support life, yet 78% of the atmosphere (by volume) is Nitrogen. This specific representation of nitrogen is tube of nitrogen gas blasted by high energy electrons (sometimes from badass science flashlight called an electron gun!). Here, it is probably being shocked by electricity! ~wow!. Nitrogen is usually transparent as it absorbs ALL wavelengths of visible light (meaning none is left to be reflected out and into our eyes, so we can't see it!). In this case, the light reflected is Ultraviolet light (very high energy light)! Sheesh! Isn't Science cool or what!!?! Enjoy the series! If you have any requests, don't be shy to let me know in the comments. I plan on making the most recognizable/easiest first! Andy Google.com/+AndrewTurk
