Overview

A soft glow around the edge of your browser reminds you to rest your eyes every 20 minutes. No popups, no alarms, no tracking.

Nimbus reminds you to rest your eyes without ever interrupting you. Every 20 minutes, a soft glow breathes around the inside edge of your browser window for 20 seconds, then fades away. No popup covering your work, no full-screen takeover, no notification sound. You look away, the glow fades, you carry on. It sits at the edge of your vision, which is exactly where a reminder to stop looking at the middle of your screen belongs. The 20-20-20 rule, without the nagging Optometrists recommend that every 20 minutes of screen time, you look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. It works — the hard part is remembering, and most break reminders solve that by being impossible to ignore. They cover your screen mid-sentence, or fire a system notification while you're presenting. So people turn them off within a week. Nimbus takes the opposite approach. The reminder is ambient. It's visible when you glance up and invisible when you're mid-thought, and because it never steals focus or blocks a click, there's no reason to disable it. What you get A calm edge glow that fades in, breathes slowly, and fades out Five brightness levels, from barely-there to impossible to miss Any colour you like — warm amber by default, since warm light is easier on tired eyes at night Your own wording on the small countdown, or no wording at all Adjustable work interval, break length, and snooze A side panel with the countdown, so you always know how long you have Pause, restart, or take a break early whenever you want Built for long screen days Digital eye strain — dry eyes, eye fatigue, blurred vision, tension headaches at the end of the day — comes from hours of fixed focus and a blink rate that drops by more than half while you read a screen. Regular short breaks let your eyes refocus and rehydrate. Nimbus is for developers, writers, designers, students, analysts, and anyone else whose job is eight hours of looking at a browser. Private by design Nimbus has no account, no sign-in, and no analytics. It doesn't count your breaks, score your habits, or build a streak to guilt you with. Nothing about your browsing is read, stored, or transmitted — your settings and one countdown live on your own machine and go no further. It needs permission to run on all sites for one reason: the glow is drawn onto the page you're currently looking at, and it can't know in advance which page that will be. It reads nothing from those pages. The entire overlay is a transparent, click-through layer in a closed shadow root, which cannot be interacted with and cannot see the page underneath it. Free, open about what it does, and quiet by default.
