Overview

Hides the posts you've already seen on the sites you choose, and tells you kindly when nothing new is left.

For the feeds you keep coming back to. Nihil Novi hides the posts you've already seen, and when nothing new is left, it says so, kindly, and sends you back to what you were doing. It helps; it doesn't shame. Only what's new. Turn it on for a site with one click on the toolbar button; it finds the feed by itself (not the right part? point at one post). A post counts as seen as soon as it's on your screen, even if you scroll past it; from your next visit on, it's hidden. Prefer to see things twice? Hide a post only after two to five visits. Nothing disappears while you're reading. A kind word instead of an empty page. When everything left is something you've seen, the feed is replaced by a short note: nothing new here, back to what you were doing. No counters of wasted time, no red. Give endless feeds an end. Each site has its own settings, all optional: A finite source: open another address instead of the home page, like your subscriptions page. Newest first (on from the start): it stops at the first post you've already seen, so the feed ends. Blocked views: switch off a part of the site, like a "For you" tab or a page of short videos, or give it a few minutes a day. Click the tab or link that opens it; it works on any site that says which view is on. A blocked page's posts and shelves disappear from your feeds too. A daily limit: minutes on the site, posts seen or pages opened, with one "a bit more today" a day. Notifications, if you like. For sites with an RSS feed, it can tell you when there's a post you haven't seen, so you don't have to go and check. Works on most sites with a feed. It finds the feed by its repeating posts, with no special code for any site. If it picks the wrong part of the page, point at one post. Private by design. Everything stays on your computer, as short fingerprints of the posts you've seen, never their text or addresses. No account, no server, no analytics. Access to a site is asked for only when you turn Nihil Novi on for it. Free, with no paid version. If it gives you back some time, you can support it on Ko-fi.
