Independent cosmetic-ingredient ratings for Indian beauty e-commerce, scored against EU and Indian cosmetic regulation.

Snifff tells you what is actually in a beauty product, while you are still on the page deciding whether to buy it. Open any product on Nykaa and Snifff reads the ingredient list off the page and rates it — a score out of 100, a plain-English tier, and a breakdown of which ingredients carried the rating and why. Ingredients are checked against European and Indian cosmetic regulation, so you can see where a product would sit under stricter rules than the ones it was sold under. Where the two disagree, Snifff says so. Every ingredient is rated for the kind of harm it is associated with, not just a colour. Tap one to see what it does in the formula, what the concern is, and where the assessment comes from. Products carrying ingredients that are restricted for pregnancy or nursing are flagged with the guidance in full. Snifff also tells you what it could not read. If part of the ingredient list is missing or printed as an image, the score is shown as an upper bound and the unread ingredients are listed, so a partial reading can never flatter a product. If the list is an image, you can paste the text in yourself and get a full rating. How to use it: install Snifff, open a product on Nykaa, and the rating appears on the listing. Tap it for the full analysis, or click the Snifff icon in the toolbar to open and close the panel. Privacy: Snifff has no accounts and no sign-up. It runs only on Nykaa, and the only thing that leaves your browser is the ingredient list and the product's title, category, and product ID, sent anonymously so the product can be scored.
