Overview

KDP niche & keyword research on any Amazon book search. Verdict: winnable, crowded, thin or no demand. No invented sales.

Niche Verdict is a KDP niche research tool for Kindle Direct Publishing authors. Open any Amazon book search and it tells you whether the niche is winnable, and shows the evidence under every number. It does not print an estimated monthly revenue, because nobody can verify that figure. That is the single most common complaint about every other tool in this category, and it is a guess dressed up as a measurement. Built for self-publishers doing KDP keyword research and low content book research, by someone who publishes on KDP too. WHAT YOU GET ON A SEARCH PAGE One verdict, in plain words: • WINNABLE — demand is proven and the mid-tail is soft. That gap is the opportunity. • CROWDED — demand is real, but so is everyone on page one. • THIN — real but small. Worth it only if it is cheap to make. • NO DEMAND — the best book actually about this has almost no ratings. • NOT A NICHE — page one is not really about what you searched, so there is nothing to score. It says so rather than inventing a number. And the evidence behind it: the on-term leader's rating count, the mid-tail median across positions 4–22, what percentage of page one is actually about your term, and a parse check showing how many results were read. WHAT YOU GET ON A PRODUCT PAGE The Build Brief — what to actually make, not just whether to enter: • Bought in past month — Amazon's own figure where it publishes one. Not an estimate, not derived from the Best Sellers Rank. • BSR, labelled as current sales, next to the rating count, labelled as cumulative history. Those two get confused constantly, and confusing them is how a dead book looks alive. • The full 1–5 star breakdown, all five buckets, with the critical share called out. • Amazon's own summary of what buyers say. Works on every product on Amazon, not only books. The verdict itself is shown for book searches on amazon.com and amazon.co.uk, because that is where its thresholds were measured — everywhere else you get the measurements without a score, and it says so. WHO IT IS FOR KDP authors and self-publishers choosing what to publish next. Low content and no content publishers sizing up a category before building one. Anyone doing Amazon book keyword research who wants the numbers on the page rather than a figure derived from the rank. WHAT IT CANNOT DO • It asks for NO permissions. Not storage, not tabs, not history, not cookies. • It makes NO network requests. There is no server. Nothing you look at is sent anywhere, because there is nowhere for it to go. • It only runs on Amazon pages you opened yourself. It never browses or clicks for you. • It collects nothing, so there is nothing to leak and nothing to sell. • It contains no third-party code. No analytics, no SDKs, no libraries. You can check all of that yourself on chrome://extensions. WHAT IS FREE Everything the extension does today is free, with no account and no sign-in: the verdict, the full evidence table, and the Build Brief's BSR, rating history and star breakdown. One feature is not built yet — a ranked complaint table showing what buyers judge a product on, sorted by how negative they are, so the weakest thing about the market leader is the first line you read. The panel tells you how many aspects it found on the page, so you can see there is something real behind it. It is not on sale, and nothing that is free today will ever be moved behind it. Built in Constanța by a one-person workshop that publishes on Amazon KDP too. https://paperplaneworkshop.com/niche-verdict/
