Overview

Peer-to-peer file and text sharing over WebRTC.

Media Beam makes moving files and text between your devices fast, private, and hassle-free—without uploading your content to cloud storage. Send photos from your phone to your computer instantly. Share documents with your laptop. Copy text snippets between devices. No user accounts, no sign-in, and no permanent file storage. Transfers use secure WebRTC connections between your browsers. Whenever possible, content travels directly from one device to the other. On restrictive networks, Media Beam may use an encrypted TURN relay to complete the connection. Media Beam does not store your transferred files or text. Why install it? • Move photos from your phone to your computer without emailing yourself or using a cloud drive. • Avoid services that require accounts, logins, or social profiles. • Keep control of your content—transferred files and text are not stored by Media Beam. • Simple setup: click Host, scan the QR code or enter the code on another device, and send. • Works across Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS through a supported browser. • Useful for screenshots, homework, documents, PDFs, images, and text. Core principles ✔ Direct peer-to-peer transfers whenever the network allows ✔ No user accounts or sign-in ✔ No server-side storage of transferred files or text ✔ Limited pseudonymous usage analytics for reliability and product improvement ✔ WebRTC transport encryption ✔ No file compression—you keep the original quality Use cases • Move pictures from phone → laptop without iCloud, Google Photos, or USB cables. • Share files between personal and school or work devices without signing in. • Copy text snippets and links between browsers. • Exchange files without uploading the content to permanent cloud storage. Media Beam is built for users who value speed, privacy, and simplicity. Network note: On restrictive networks, direct peer-to-peer connectivity may be unavailable. In those cases, Media Beam may use an encrypted relay connection. Relayed transfers can be slower and may have lower size limits. Privacy note: Media Beam collects limited pseudonymous usage events, such as app opens, connection results, transfer starts, and completed receives, to measure reliability and improve the product. It does not intentionally collect transferred files, transferred text, filenames, room codes, clipboard contents, or account information. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
