Click any highlight and you get the receipt: the quote, the verdict on that specific passage, and every measure that scored it. The same sentence is often clean by one measure and damning by another, and you see both. WHAT IT SHOWS YOU - Every flagged passage, marked in the article's own text, colour coded by what each measure found. - The reasoning behind each mark. Not a score with nothing behind it. - The article's overall rating and the measures that produced it. - How many readers have already filed a complaint about that article. Our Media Watchdog scores coverage on measures like who a sentence names as the actor, whether a military claim carries a verification caveat, whether victims are labelled by affiliation, and whether one side's casualty figures are qualified while the other side's are stated as fact. WHY IT IS DIFFERENT Most bias tools rate the outlet. This one rates the article, sentence by sentence, and shows you the evidence in the words the journalist actually wrote. A rating of a whole newspaper tells you nothing about the piece in front of you. A highlighted sentence with a reason attached tells you everything. WHAT IT CAN SEE NewsCord Companion runs on 57 news domains and nowhere else. On every other site it is switched off entirely and can see nothing at all. To know whether an article has been analysed, it sends the address of that page to newscord.org. That request carries no cookie, no account details and nothing that identifies you. The answer is held only until you close your browser. We do not build a profile of what you read. The extension contains no analytics and no tracking of any kind. It is free, and there is no account to create. HOW IT WORKS 1. Install it. There is nothing to configure and no account to make. 2. Open an article on one of the outlets above. 3. If we have analysed that piece, the flagged passages are already marked when you arrive. 4. Click a highlight to see the quote, the verdict on it, and the measures that scored it. Coverage is deliberately narrow. We analyse a fraction of what these outlets publish, so most articles carry no marks. When there is nothing to show, the extension does nothing at all and stays out of your way. WHO IT IS FOR Readers who want to check the framing rather than take it.
