It may as well be good for something. ecomstrike — New Tab replaces Chrome's home page with a command post built for people who are building something: the time, your intention for the day, a focus timer, your tasks, your notes, and the deadlines nobody thinks to watch. A TIMER THAT DOESN'T STOP WHEN YOU CLOSE THE TAB This is the difference from timers that live inside the page. Here it runs inside the extension itself — so it keeps going when you close the new tab, which is exactly the moment you get to work. The minutes left show on the extension's icon, and a notification tells you when a session or a break ends. Three rhythms to choose from: 25/5 (the classic pomodoro), 52/17, or 90/20 for deep work. The long break arrives automatically after several sessions. Automatic chaining is off by default: a break that runs while you're away is no break at all. YOUR INTENTION FOR THE DAY, ONE LINE Not a list. One sentence, wiped clean every morning: the most important thing today. You see it on every tab. With your ecomstrike account linked, it joins your dashboard notes — and the ones you wrote there show up here. WHAT YOU NEED TO SEE COMING Two things no new tab shows you today: Your domain names approaching expiry, excluding the ones on auto-renew. Losing a domain costs far more than renewing it, and nobody checks their domain list unprompted. EIGHT BACKGROUNDS, OR YOUR OWN They're drawn in code, so they're sharp on every screen from a laptop to a 5K display, and they appear instantly. You can also set your own image: it stays on your computer and is sent nowhere. THE REST A search bar that recognises a URL and takes you straight there, instead of opening a results page for nothing. Direct access to the six views of your ecomstrike member area: calendar, SEO plan, content, ideas, notes, domains. English and French, following your browser's language, with a switch in the bar. EVERYTHING WORKS WITHOUT AN ACCOUNT The timer, the tasks, the intention, the notes, the key dates, the backgrounds: none of it asks you to sign in. Linking your ecomstrike account is optional, and adds only two things — your notes and your domains. NOTHING THAT FOLLOWS YOU No analytics, no advertising, no trackers. Your tasks, your intention, your unsent notes and your background stay in Chrome's local storage. The only outgoing connection is to your own ecomstrike account, and only if you linked it yourself.
