Overview

Simulate slow and unstable network conditions on the current tab with one click.

WHAT'S NEW IN 1.1.0 Switch complete Profiles from the toolbar context menu. Right-click the NetStutter icon, choose Switch Profile, and select a saved setup. Its Network, Behavior, and Timing are saved immediately for the next time you enable NetStutter on a tab. Already running tabs keep their existing configuration, and left-click still turns only the current tab on or off. NetStutter is a focused network throttling simulator for developers and QA. Choose your settings once, then left-click the toolbar icon to turn network simulation on or off for the current tab. There is no popup. Each tab works independently. Enable NetStutter in Tab A while Tab B stays normal, or enable both with separate sessions. Clicking the icon again restores normal network conditions for that tab. QUICK PROFILE SWITCHING Right-click the NetStutter toolbar icon, open Switch Profile, and choose one of your locally saved Profiles. Its complete Network, Behavior, and Timing become the saved defaults immediately. There is no need to open Settings or press Save Settings. The next time you enable NetStutter on a tab, it uses those defaults. Switching a Profile does not turn any tab on or off, change an already running tab, or create a debugger session. NETWORK CONDITIONS Choose from 17 built-in network conditions covering Mobile, Wi-Fi, Home Broadband, and Offline. Use Custom to enter download and upload speeds in Mbps and latency in milliseconds. Offline simulates a lost network connection on the enabled tab. THREE BEHAVIORS • Continuous: keep the selected slow or offline condition active until you turn it off. • Random: start with normal network, wait a newly chosen time within your From/To range, apply the condition for a fixed duration, then repeat. • Interval: start with normal network, wait a fixed Every period, apply the condition for a fixed duration, then repeat. Every is the normal period after each simulated interruption. COMPLETE PROFILES Save reusable Network + Behavior + Timing combinations as named Profiles. Create, load, edit, update, and delete them in Settings. In the Settings page, Load fills a draft and Save Settings saves it for future activations. The toolbar's Switch Profile menu is a direct shortcut that saves the chosen Profile immediately. Saving, updating, or deleting a Profile in the library does not automatically change Current Settings. Current Settings remain independent even if the original Profile is renamed or deleted. SETTINGS THAT STAY PREDICTABLE Settings open in a separate tab with Network, Behavior, Profiles, and About sections. Already running tabs keep their activation snapshot until you turn them off and on again. Blue means Off, orange means armed and waiting with normal network, and red means the simulated condition is active. LOCAL AND PRIVATE Current Settings and Profiles stay in local Chrome storage. NetStutter has no account, cloud sync, analytics, telemetry, advertising, external API, or remote code. It does not record requests, read request or response bodies, or save browsing history. It briefly checks a tab's URL to determine whether the page is supported; the URL is not saved or transmitted. The toolbar context menu reads only your local Profiles and does not access webpage content. Chrome's debugger permission is used only to apply and clear network conditions on tabs you explicitly enable by left-clicking the toolbar icon. Chrome may display its standard debugging information bar. Browser cancellation of debugging can stop multiple enabled sessions; NetStutter then clears their local running states. NetStutter supports ordinary HTTP and HTTPS pages on Chrome 151 or newer. Chrome internal pages, Chrome Web Store pages, and other protected targets are unavailable for network simulation. It does not limit your whole computer or browser.
